We All Fall Down is a post-apocalyptic survival RPG using the Pioneer Valley resource packs in a combination of Mythos and High Fantasy to create a war-torn wasteland of 1940s America. Set in a loose-realism Central Texas, 100 years later after nuclear devastation. It shares Western and Mystery themes along with Apocalyptic and Horror elements with the overarching design of Survival.

Story:
Follow the story of two strangers who find themselves waking in a derelict bunker with little idea as to how they got there and why. As fate would have it, the two are more entwined than they know as they are both thrown into a world of survival against the odds that the Texas Wasteland has to offer. Men and monsters lurk around every corner, waiting and willing to stop them from finding the answers they seek.

But is there more to these two than either one is letting on?

Turn-Based Combat with On-Screen Encounters

New DEMO Release!

After doing a lot of updating, adding and fixing We All Fall Down, I'm finally comfortable with releasing a second version of the demo! And while not A LOT has changed, A LOT has changed. Taking from testers, comments and NTC3's review, I've made significant changes to the overarching storyline and some key gameplay aspects.

Let's go over some of the changes, additions and fixes, shall we?

New shopkeeper! A travelling gypsy woman with new items and stock.

-Story has changed in many ways. There's much more mystery and everything isn't over said or told through over-exposition, you'll learn more as you go. Natural, right?

-Firearms are now working, but not using Kread's script anymore as it kept causing too many problems I couldn't fix easily. Firearms are simply now skills with a high AP cost, but don't really require ammo. This isn't the best fix I want but it will do for now until I do something else.

-Dialogue has been cut down where it was too bloated. More people and things to interact with in the wasteland and even have choices on how to handle some wandering local baddies.

-Fixed a lot of little graphical bugs and passibility errors. (probably still more out there, ugh)

-More quests!

-The DEMO now has a start and end, unlike before at a certain point the DEMO would just end. The DEMO is now basically the first chapter and sets up for the rest of the game.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things, but overall I feel the new release is a much cleaner and clearer version. I really took all criticisms to heart and did my best to work on them and just generally make things more fun!

There's still a lot of work to do and even with what I have now there's still more I want to add or expand. I will strive to continually make this game the best it can be!

*note* Since I'm planning on a commercial release way in future, I am only working with scripts and resources that are commercial-free or that I own or have commissioned. This will make progress in some areas slow, but ultimately better for me and the players. :)

That's all for now! Hopefully you enjoy the new DEMO experience and please comment here, the gamepage or message me if you have any questions or find any bugs. Oh, and a review never hurts! They really do help me. <3

Oh1 New stuff? Looks pretty good!
Thanks Vic! :D
Hi, just came acorss this: am a big fan of games like Fallout 2 and this is a great RPG with lots of promise: there is a sense of a whole wolrd here which you have really captured and I do love.

I know this is a demo, but I think you can exploit the genre far more: Fallout had it's whole atomic modernism to spoof, and you have the film noir, american war propaganda posters, post art-deco, dieselpunk, pathe news vibe to really bring out: I got thinking about this mainly because of that damned music you have for combat -
really grates for me! (sorry! check out places like FMA for anything better and free, and is it possible to vary it?)

But let's not get distracted by the little things, it is a demo: you have some great characters, some solid mssions, a nice combat balance where the game is attrition, resource management, weapon-hunting and level-grind.

the other threads and the review do cite the bugs and the lack of warnign about thirst (eg: watch where bodies fall: bottom of ladder in bunker where you get ambushed, you can walk up through the walls if body falls at top near wall and locked door)

The maps are sprawling and I did find it tricky knwoing where to go off the edge of certain parts: perhaps a bit more signposting - and remove a lot of clutter? All those tiny plants and rocks that stop movement - it becomes a dance to get across the screen and avoid the monsters.

The combat is ok - needs more variety, and soem of the backdrops are soo dark I cannot see much with my aging eyess. Firearms looks good, but I too had the bug where I was equipping bullets so look forward to that.

However, the cycle of bleeing, fracturing, diseasing does help break up the button-mashing side of combat: there are soem nice layers of strategy and each game I play is different. I'm not usually one for this type of combat, but I like this variation - keeps it fresh, but needs tewaking. So look forward to the next demo.

Finally, I do like the writing: there is a nice mix of very dark and desperate (starts with dismembered youngsters) with some of the darkly funny stuff (the spider-hunter's diary for example). There is an awful lot of dialogue, not sure if tehre is a better way to show it off, but overall is ok.

I'd love to review it, but see this has already been done very well, so will wait until the main game comes along.

Overall, I do like where this is going and looking forward to the next update.

Thanks, PineBox! This is a pretty old version. I need to update the download soon. Aloot has changed :)
Spent a bit of time with it now. The first time you see one of those mushroom creatures scurrying around is pretty creepy, and the survival mechanic is really solid. Can't find any more verminkind to kill around the farmhouse though?

Awesome! And for that quest you have to kill all the ones on that whole map. :)
