Bubble by MoonChildGames
Length: ~30 minutes

I hate dystopias. In fact, I hate most games and movies that take place in the future. However, I actually enjoyed Bubble! One of the main reasons I enjoyed it would probably be that rather than being a corporation that just looks like a New York rip off, it was colorful and indeed bubbly!

The graphics are mainly rtp, but the developer uses the rtp nicely in a way that makes bubble corp. seem like a friendly and bright place despite the rtp's limitations, and the developer also does a good job of making the place increasingly darker and more depressing as you descend. It's not over the top and edgy, but it still has it's fair share of creepy moments. Not to mention, some of the generated faces actually looked quite good! The music was really funky too.
Bubble corp. in general was a really neat place to learn about. The technology doesn't try to look extremely futuristic by, I dunno, having holograms of the president appear in your house or flying cars all over the skies. Instead, we have wristbands that tell you how many licks it took you to finish your lollipop.
Back to graphical talk, the game's art is actually quite nice. It's obviously hand drawn and looks a bit out of place in comparison to the face sprites but that's a-okay with me. One thing that did bother me, though, was how sometimes the pictures were too large and the message window went over them. This could have easily been fixed if the dev just used a transparent message window with nothing on it.

Wait, if I clean rooms every day/week, how did you get so much dust built up so quickly?

I have mixed feelings about the game's story. I expected a good plot twist, and it was delivered, but didn't make the most sense.
At the beginning of the game, Miss Wade mentions she heard a bomb drop after the gate closed, but then they reveal the devastation never happened. Did the company just fake the bomb sound?

In fact, I think my biggest gripe with the game was that there were multiple parts of the dialogue that didn't make sense, like the caption for the image above and what I hid in those spoiler tags. It also felt weird how the jill says her boss and acquintances tried everything to open the gates and it didn't work, but suddenly it opens for her? And somehow, she knows how to disarm all the wristbrands? A lot of things like this just felt strange.
There isn't much gameplay either. It starts off fine with walking around bubble corp and talking to people but eventually just turns into another key hunting game.
In the end, I think Bubble is decent enough to be played, but definetly could be improved to be much better.

Fuck this fountain.

I give this game three stupid fountains out of five.
