Amort by Esby, zDS, Superstroke and CashmereCat
Length: ~30 minutes

Nostalgia is a great feeling. I love feeling nostalgia, looking at a game I played years ago, or a movie I watched when I was like 5 years old, or even just listening to a song I used to like a lot back in the day. For me, Amort was basically a nostalgia ride combined with some of my modern day favorites. It reminds me of old horror games I've played, but also reminds me of some tv shows I absolutely adore like Gravity Falls or Bates Motel.

The graphics and original soundtrack are great. They feel very professional and well drawn. The black and white aesthetics really fit the theme of the game. The mapping is quite good, accompanied by the well drawn battlers. Speaking of battlers, they're all really creepy.
The gameplay is quite nice as well. The perception ability is quite unique and the developers do a lot of interesting things with it. This game would have been much more boring without it since you'd have to check boxes and the ground randomly to find hidden things. The battles are well made as well. The first two are really easy, which makes sense considering they're mainly tutorial fights, but the other batttles actually require some strategizing.

Of course there is something off about him, Lycia, he feeds his children freaking skulls!

The story is the only complaint I have about the game. While I love the concept of the ''mysterious fucked up town'', I don't think the developers did a very good job with the ending, or just the later parts of the game. There are no answers to questions the main character asks herself. She says she wants to find out the truth, but immediately gives up after turning super saiyan in the final battle. A lot of things are left unexplained and the ending feels rushed, which is a shame because it had a good, mysterious start.

All in all I think Amort is really good in every aspect other than the story in the second half of the game.
I would give it four skulls out of five.

Thank you kindly for this review, Frogge! I share the general sentiment of opinion you've presented here and I'm really grateful that you were able to express this adroitly. The perception ability is indeed a unique thing that the game attempted to centre itself around, and, given more time, we could have created something larger and more epic, like we'd originally envisioned. Whilst developing this, our lives seemed to be plagued by strange postmen in our own relational spheres, but somehow this game proved as a sort of "heirloom" to help us stave away the reaper-like figures trying to steal our creative impulses away from us.

And I probably did the least amount of work on this game. Thanks for writing, friend.

I'm glad you liked the review! :D
While I would have loved to see more being done with the perception ability, I was satisfied with what I was given.

Also, this event isn't about who does the most or least work, it's about having fun and getting to work with new people! Don't be hard on you ^^
