STORY

Long ago, a great wizard had wished to live a prosperous and peaceful life for he lived his own witnessing a world full of conflict, wars, despair, agony and hatred. For this, he studied every magic hoping to find any power that would lead to a wonderful and peaceful world.

Until one day, he attained the greatness of a true wizard and thus received the power to call upon the Seven Pillars of Magic. Not knowing what the seven pillars of magic were capable of, he used up all his strength to use its power. As the seven pillars became one, the great wizard was surprised to see a new world being made out of nowhere. A world filled with mysteries. A world full of magic.

As the new world was nearing its construction, so was the end of his life. Still, he continued drawing out the full power of the profound magic and was holding on to that new hope that this new world that he had created would be the fulfillment of his dream; a world of peace. A world they now call, Lakserf.

The people of Lakserf then had lived their lives with a portion of power of the Seven Pillars of Magic. Each with their own unique and special abilities that resided deep inside them. Through time, they came up with a school that helped young and untrained hearts to control and hone their magic, guiding them so that they would soon take charge as new generations come. They had these magic to keep the balance and order in Lakserf , although some had lived their lives without even taking their time honing that magic, preferring a normal life.

All of these were what the great wizard had hoped Lakserf would be.

... or so he thought.

Lakserf v0.022 UPDATE!

The following are the changes I did.

Additions:

*Equipment Upgrade is implemented! Weapons can be upgraded to raise its STR, MAG and SEN while Armors can be upgraded to raise its DEF, MDEF and AGI depending on the type of armor.

*Implemented SRD's stat distribution to replace stat upgrades from Learn Skill tab.

Changes:

-> Removed the help files, Ailments and Elements, from appearing early on the Prologue to prevent information overload. Instead, turned it into a side quests which will be available on chapter 1 by talking to a doctor in a hospital and a school girl inside a house at the City Entrance.

-> A few changes in the map.

Skills
-> Changed the casting animation.
-> Skill formulas are bumped up to match the percentage written on the skill description.
-> Fixed a bug where the 1st tier and 3rd tier skill can be used at the same time.
-> EP regeneration from Guard is raised to 15 instead of 10.
-> Removed SP from the Learn Skill tab.

Items and Equipments
-> Weapon power and Armor defense revamped to go along with the implementation of Equipment Upgrade.
-> Renamed ores for better organization for enchant materials.
-> Changed the required materaial for Enchant Stones and Gemstones.

Souls
-> Souls can now be detached from a weapon.

Enemies
-> Fixed a bug where a battle persists right after it ends before the portal disappear.
-> Slight modifications of enemy parameters.
-> Slightly increases the EXP gain from monsters.

Characters

Every available characters' passive skills have been modified aside from Helena and Kouji.

Helena
-> Changed her weapon to Magstream.

Kouji
-> Kouji's summoned cyborg's damage will now rely on Kouji's SEN instead of his STR. (This is to go with SEN being the main stat to increase summoned companion's damage.)

Just finished your demo.
The only bug I met very often: 2 battles directly after hitting a portal. It can happen anywhere.
I trained until level 10 before facing the Alpha Nocturne.
Perhaps I will try the other solution next time.

How many quest are there in the first town? I found and finished 6.

Oh, I was playing as a female, but in the last event in Davendill she is referred as "him". There are more typos but I didn't testplay it.

Fist off, thank you so much for trying out the game. I hope you had fun. I'll surely look into the bugs you mentioned. And yes, there are 6 side quests in the first town.
Yeah, it was fun.
Is there a way to give the passive party-member a portion of the earned EXP?
The only time he get some was for the sidequest in Davendill.
Your monsters give to few EXP to grind at a reasonable speed.
(Playtime app. 5 hours)
That's good to know! :D

Nope, there isn't. I've added the exp to my to do list. Will make it better. Thank you for the feedback I needed. :)

PS. By "he" I assume it was Kouji you left out of the group?
Yep. But I trained him until Level 5.
I too finished the demo, and I look forward for the release of its complete version! Original gameplay and great graphics, thanks to RPGM MV!
I fully agree with Firefly84 about the far too low rate of EXP earning, which make grinding for leveling-up somewhat boring (no offense meant).
I add a suggestion: when distributing SP among physical/magical characteristics, it should be useful to see the characteristics level in order to select which one to enhanced. It's hard to remember which parameter are to be improved for which character!
Some remarks:
- the game needs Windows 8 (or W8 compatibility on Windows 10) for running correctly. I spent a lot of time to understand why I experimented so frequent crashes on W7 and W10 before finding it!
- I didn't find how to place Souls or Chips on weapons. Is that indication in the "feature under development" file?
- Anoter feature I assume to be under development: the fluidity of the between-page transition when changing location or menu options. Is it a no-RTP version?

Overall, you made an excellent work: I hope you won't resent my comments above!

PS: the game let you save from any slot you wish and load from any previous record as long as you don't quit. Otherwise you can only load the first save. Already in the to-do list?

Of course, I wouldn't! In fact, I'm thankful. Thanks for the feedback :D

Regarding the issues you mentioned, I myself have a W7 OS and it's working fine when playing through the game. What I have in mind that may be causing the crashed was making the game a single executable file. It might also be the reason of the fps drops and the save issue.

I'm currently working on the issues addressed by a few more people who sent me their feedback and will be uploading a new version once I'm done. Once again, thank you for taking your time playing the game and for letting me know what you think. Much appeciated. :D
Whoa, I’m digging what I’ve seen of Lakserf. Please consider bringing it to Playstation. It’d be a day 1 purchase for me.
