Embark on a cosmic quest to dethrone the Zodiacs and revive the Golden Age, if the galaxy survives your wrath, that is.

(Updates) Any possible patch note and alterations will be posted here!

Virgo Vs The Zodiac is a sci-fi/fantasy JRPG where you play as a single character. The game features traditional turn based combat with a twist: Guarding, countering and timing your actions carefully as well as predicting your foes' moves is essential during on Virgo’s twisted cosmic quest to bring back the Golden Age, a period of peace, symmetry and balance, or so she thinks.
In this galaxy where every action means a reaction, you’ll play as Virgo, the Holy Queen, or so-called Dreadful Queen by heretics, bringing mayhem to the Zodiac Realms and leaving a trail of stardust on your way, all to fit her excessively righteous worldview.

After stealing the Talaria, winged shoes of Mercury, her father, she marches in her crusade towards the Temples of Saturn in search of Capricorn, her first adversary. Along her journey to achieve Purity and Perfection, she will encounter many foes whom she deems heretics, but also those she finds friendship in, such as her trusty companion, Gingerbread Man, a delicious cookie who assists Virgo on her journey.

In Virgo Vs The Zodiac, the whole universe is defined by the Zodiac Qualities System, which will track Virgo’s Zodiac Quality allignment, divided into MUTABLE, FIXED and CARDINAL. Through your choices in game, Virgo’s personality (and clothes!) will change as you go, based on one of the Qualities. This will also help you dive into the minds of the 12 Zodiac archetypes through the game’s quirky characters giving a deeper experience and making the world to feel more organic.
Choices are color-coded to reflect which Quality they'll be tied to. In the full game, direct conversations with a respective Quality Zodiac and story bits will be unlocked depending on how deep into the Quality itself the player is.
Perhaps a conversation or two with Cancer or Leo may change how they'll treat you once you purge visit their Realms!

No obvious Good/Evil choices! You’ll never feel guilty for the options you choose throgh the course of the game. From small stat gains to large scale plot-twisting events, those decisions will make a great impact in the world around you, changing your path and other character’s destinies, as Virgo’s strives to trick FATE!

Unlike most traditional JRPGs, Virgo Vs The Zodiac features heavy commitment to every action taken in combat, and therefore, their effects are always highly significant. No turns will feel wasted as you fight your way through the galaxy.

Being mostly based on a simple but powerful Guard/Counter system, you’ll be able to protect blows and retaliate right away with a multitude of different Guards and Counters-attacks by equipping different shields. Every piece of equipment will grant you new abilities in addition to stats, and mix-matching to find a perfect combo of abilities is freely available, also adding a lot of replayability! Classes in Virgo will be tied to a Zodiac Quality but won’t strictly limit your equipment availability or build variations.

Enemies fight based on the Zodiac Qualities system as well, displaying their strengths and weakness through their color-coded sprites in battle; a foe wielding a purple-ish weapon will likely strike you down with Cardinal abilities, but one who whields a pink-ish shield will defend Fixed attacks much better!

Combat in the Astrological Realms is unforgiving and every encounter has the possibility of resulting in defeat if your actions aren’t timed carefully against your foes! Constant adaptation of strategies to face different opponents is required to achieve victory over the Heretic! Expect no attack-spam, unless you just want to enjoy the story in the Stress-free mode, with no drawbacks other than a more forgiving combat playthrough.

In addition to regular turn-based abilities, you’ll also come across certain real-time precise-hit attacks and other sorts of timed hits, such as combos of different degrees of complexity, but more info on these will come out later!

As you delve through the most heretical star clusters of the galaxy, you'll find a vast amount of explorable areas brimming with interactive objects. A large amount of detail is put to make every interaction unique and reward players who take their time to check their surroundings. Many choices that will impact the game can be brought up through world interaction and exploration.

Now THIS IS WHAT I call a FUNtastic game. The original graphics looks nice! Added to playlist and subscribed. ^^
This sounds incredibly fun!

Tho virgo changing mutability signs sounds a little confusing, I thought virgo itself is a mutable earth sign? wouldn't she be more like a taurus or sth then if it turned fixed, for example?
Or DOES she change her archetypes? Not sure how that works ..
I like choices tho.

Other than that, totally on board with this!
It's finally here! =D

Definitely gonna download this demo soon!
And subscribed, of course.
Looks cool! The graphics are surely amazing! Good luck with the development!
This is why we have RPGMaker MV with it high resolution. For large pixels.

For the archetypes, no she doesn't change her archetype. Virgo will still be Virgo, but as a well-rounded character that changes her ways of seeing things throughout your playthrough. She may become softer, or her obsessions can become even bigger. It will depend on your choices. All the choices, of course, will be linked to something a Virgo alignment would follow, even if there's many choices, they will always agree with the archetype, and so does Virgo's responses. The character is also very hateful in the beginning, and almost 90% of the people who played agreed to disagree with the ways of the character, so in the beginning it seems like you are watching a character from a movie doing stuff you don't quite agree with, and them you go little by little controlling this character, without going against what she means, without going against the ideals and personality of this character. I tried to simulate this feeling, so Virgo isn't self insert to the point she'll lose herself. Also this was based by the fact that mutable Zodiacs tend to change sides and opinions pretty often, sometimes agreeing with cardinals, and other times agreeing with fixed, also being kinda shapeshifters.

Right.. Ehm.. Expect it sometime between now and the 11th of June (if I get around to it ^.^" )
Am at the first cookie part.
I am loving this! The dialogue is so refreshingly blunt and fun, haha.

When can I buy it?
I wrote a review, but I tend to write reviews targeted to other potential players, so here’s some of my thoughts as a developer. No need to respond or anything, just thought you might be interested in a bit more detailed feedback

Overall I really loved the battle system! I had fun learning it, but at some point I hit what felt like a plateau of skill and it ended up feeling tedious after awhile. I was playing on zodiac difficulty and didn’t have much trouble except at the very beginning (while learning) and very end (fighting Capricorn). I definitely don’t think the combat system is bad, and you actually have an impressive variety of enemies, but I fought many battles where I could use pretty much the same strategy: stomp, attack, guard; repeat and swap stomp for smite once enemies were unstunned and/or stomp ran out of uses. Use a coffee to heal as needed. I think this is what contributed to the tedious feeling for me. Now, I definitely could have experimented more, but since I had a working strategy I didn’t consider doing that until after I beat the demo, whoops!

Having such a small amount of moves was nice, since I like minimalistic battle systems, but for some reason I can’t seem to articulate I felt like I had too few choices. I say “felt like” since if I stop and think, there’s a pretty wide range of things you can do (attack, guard, heal, the battle items actually had meaningful effects) and although there weren’t many skills, each one was meaningful. I dunno, something about it gave me a feeling of “there’s not much choice in what I should do”, but again that might be because I had a strategy that was generally effective. My next action was usually a no-brainer despite technically having many options to pick from.

The limited uses for skills did prevent me from spamming them, especially stomp, but it did feel like a very forced, obtrusive way to prevent that. I personally didn’t care for it.

I did use battle items, mostly in the fight against Capricorn. I was pretty frugal and did a lot of saving up items and cash. Here’s my stats and equipment right before Capricorn. I didn't change equipment very much once I got new things

Here’s the choices I made too (that I noted… I THINK i wrote them all down), just in case you’re curious:
Yes we should check our plan (fixed)
I must control my instincts (cardinal)
Help Frans out of wall (fixed)
Ate the cookies (mutable) and got a heresy count, then I did not eat them for (fixed)
Let the salarylamb go (mutable)
Spare her (mutable)
Read diary (mutable)

I don’t have any particular recommendations or anything, this was just my experience. after all, you know your game best! I thought it was easy, but that’s not too bad in the grand scheme of things and I think my experience with that might be the minority.
IT'S ON THE FRONT PAGE.
