Love and War is a tale taking place on the world of Terra. Ever since the birth of the first nation-state on this world, Terra has been wracked by the scourge of war. Five nations managed to survive throughout the ages, yet it seemed as though with each passing day, humanity slipped closer and closer to self-annihilation.

One man made a difference, however. The youthful Emperor of the Zion Empire, Geraud Valtemond, was this man. A brilliant, honorable, and benevolent monarch, he managed to open the eyes of the leaders of the other nations, showing them what lay ahead if Terra persisted down this road. Through diplomacy and sheer force of will, Lord Geraud created the Commonwealth; an international governing body, comprised of democratically elected representatives and Peacekeeping Forces, which would forever make war a thing of the past.

Three centuries have elapsed, and people have forgotten the lessons of the past. Tensions are rising between nations once again, and it seems as if the Commonwealth is powerless to do anything but watch as its order crumbles. Can one man make a difference, once again?

Love and War: Jaina's Story Released!

Hiya everyone! Just wanted to report the release of Love and War: Jaina’s Story!

It’s a new short video starring Jaina Vellin, on St. Mikhail’s Day. Please feel free to check it out, and let me know what you think! Special thanks go to DollVA for voice acting Jaina (and Helen!), Khaishian for the artwork, and Aekenon for recording and editing the video itself. Merry Christmas, and Happy St. Mikhail’s Day to you all!

Conmon: Yeah, that's not one you easily forget, eh? :)

Sailerius: Do you mean when you try to install it, or run the game itself? Either way, that's the first time I've heard of that happening... Can you run it in "Windows XP Compatibility Mode" by any chance?

When I run the game itself. I tried running it in XP compatibility mode and get the same result.

EDIT: For good measure, I also tried Vista compatibility mode and also "troubleshoot compatibility" but none of the permutations of options did anything different.

Oh man the voice acting is killing this for me. At least the voiceactors in the introduction arc are hilariously bad. Here's hoping it gets better. D:
Sailerius: Wish I knew what the problem is there... Total random guess: could it have something to do with the low resolution and full screen mode on your computer, perhaps? Can you run other RM2K games, for instance, or is it just this one that refuses?

Happy: Voice acting can definitely be a tricky thing, and certainly won't please everyone. If you continue to cringe as you move forward, I'd suggest turning it off with the in-menu toggle, which will hopefully help. :)

I tried changing the resolution but it was a no go.

Just some things to check:

1) Have you tried forcing the game to open in Windowed Mode?
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45606

2) Have you tried installing the RPG Maker 2000 RTP?

3) Which version of Windows are you using? Windows 8?

Just doing my bid to help ~ ~
Hmm... From the link eplipswich kindly provided:

"To start a game in windowed mode, create a shortcut to RPG_RT.exe and add the following parameters:

NormalPlay ShowTitle Window"

It looks like the venerable Cherry also has a program allowing full-screen play, but perhaps we should test and see if this at least allows you to run the game first, Sailerius. :) (If not, it's probably something else that's preventing you from running it, I suppose...)
just wanted to bring this to your attention but in the shop in trinden where he got the tux you can walk over top of one of the walls
D'oh! Oh well, hope there aren't too many walkable walls like it. :P

Not entirely sure to what you're referring to there rpgnet, but glad to hear you enjoyed Act I. :)
Love this game! Played the old version, the remastered one is simply amazing. I can see how much effort you put in this, the voice acting is perfectly synched with the text dialogues @_@ How in Terra did you manage that? Anyways, seriously hoping we have some news about act II soon! This game must be in my top 3 favorite rpg maker games of all time :D
I have save files from the version before the current one. Are these compatible with the current version and the hopefully upcoming version of Act II?
Siberian: Many thanks for your kind words! Doubly so for noticing the text synching up for the voice acting... oh, that was painful to do, line by line, but it was worth it if players like you noticed that. :)

Bugfragged: By "the version before", do you mean the version released last September, the one with voice acting? Those save files should indeed be compatible. If you mean the version released even earlier then that, then no, they aren't.
Yes, that's the version I was referring to. Thanks.
Did you ever get around to finishing part 2? This is still, to this day, one of my favorite RMN games.
Hey all! This is kind of a dumb place to be stuck, but I'm not sure where to go/what to do (pretty near the end of the game I think) after opening the two chests in the mayor's house. Any advice?
Also: great job on the game. This is maybe a weird thing to focus on, but I think it has the best npcs ever.
Rekitsu: Ah, rest assured, once I have an announcement to make, I'll make it here. :)

Icovoc: Hmm, if you're where I believe you are, then:

You might want to examine that bookshelf in the office.

Thanks for the kind words - I always have been fond of my NPCs!
