News updates, and a tentative release date

Well now, the first wave of testing certainly had its share of missteps and what not, but quite a bit of invaluable feedback was nevertheless gleaned. Many thanks to those who donated their time to play through the beta, it's much appreciated! :) I will likely not be having three waves of testers after all, probably just one more considering time constraints. But we'll see how it goes.

Onto that tentative release date: I'm shooting for releasing the revamp of Act I sometime in December (yes, December 2011). It's possible (but very unlikely...) that it will be released sooner, and I'm afraid it's all too possible that it may be released later on after all. The remaining work is largely out of my hands at this point! Time will tell all things, time will tell.

I think I was more astonished than confused.

Source of astonishment:

1) That you and this project still exist. (Pleasant surprise!)
2) That you are still working on PART 1. (>:()

The last I had heard anything about this project was in about 2005, when I played and was impressed by Act I. Even then I think that it had been described to me by someone as 'obsolete' and 'defunct' and even then it seemed years old. So to see that it is still being worked on six years later is a bit...je ne sais quoi.

I remember when I finished Act I I decided I absolutely needed to play Act II, but now that more than half a decade has passed, I can't remember a damn thing about the game except I liked it and a lot of other people liked it even more. So I look forward to playing the Act I remake...but only when Act II is done. Otherwise the cycle might just repeat itself endlessly.

Legion: It is pretty darn weird, isn't it? Has it really been that long? The truth is that in the years after the initial release, there was a repeated loop of very disheartening "Back to square one!" events, which only came to a halt when the indomitable SGCN volunteered his services as mapmaker. I can scarcely praise him enough - without SGCN, there would be no revamp of Act I at all... or future projects for that matter, it would seem. = ) As for Act II, there is a demo floating around, though I don't think it will be really "compatible" (referring to the save file) with the revamped Act I. I kinda hope you do check out the revamp, even if there is yet another remake of Act I some day. = D

Benos: Aha! Well I can't make any promises, but we'll see how it goes. Earlier in the month might be better then later, if I actually get to choose. = )
