The kingdom of Senna has been afflicted with a virulent plague overnight. With the elite soldiers out of commission, it is up to a small rookie taskforce to find and retrieve the cure they need.

A Drop of Life is a 25-40 minute retro fantasy RPG that features three cadets: Marr the Squire, Yula the Caster, and Rae the Ranger. The combat system is very simple but at times requires a degree of strategic thinking to cut your losses.

This game was made for the RETROMANIA! game jam in approximately two days (couldn't quite hit that 10 hr bonus rule).

*Features two normal endings and one true ending!

Houston, we have a slight problem. When I fired up the game to try it out, I found that every time I moved a cursor or confirmed an option, there was a two-second lag between my press and the engine acting on my input.

I don't know if it's only a problem on my end, but I think the reason why is because some of the sound effects are MP3 files as opposed to WAV or OGG files; whenever I play anything on VX Ace it does that with such files, be it background music or SFX in this case.

I hate to be a pain, but would that be able to be tweaked for a 'patch' update? I believe Audacity can be used for free to turn those sound files into WAV or OGG so that they can be used without the lag. I'd have changed them around myself but the project seems to be encrypted; as such I can't open it in the editor mode. :x

Hm, several other people have played it without issue so it's most likely an issue on your end ^^; The audio files shouldn't be encrypted and as long as the file names are the same it should work out just fine, but otherwise I'll look into changing the file types to OGG :0

Ah, got it. I'm looking up some work-arounds and, with a Google search, I see I'm not the only one who has these problems. Will take a look-see and see if I can't get the fixes to work on my end. ^^;
This was one of the best entries for this event.
Got all ends but would have loved a bit higher levels than a max of 4.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it that much ^^
This looks cool, I'll be sure to play it at some point.
Cool little game, I enjoyed it. I was drawn by the monochrome graphics and stayed for the story, instead.

Also, where's that 3rd ending and extra character?

It's a bit more involved but once you're able to access the 'final' area, you can backtrack to the wagon and pick up some rope - this will allow you to access certain areas in previous maps, and the rest I'm sure you can figure out yourself ;j

I've grabbed the rope and beat the three bonus bosses. I'm not sure where else to go since I backtracked all the way to the first town just to see if I missed anything. thonks

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. :)
