Name: Fire RMNblem

Developer: Dyhalto

Brief Commentary: It wouldn't be such an issue if you didn't see it every three freaking seconds! Piano Tim attacks! Piano Tim moves! Piano Tim now at level Walrus! MY NAME IS TOM!

Story: The evil King Kentonus is a tyrant! He's out of control! He has to be stopped! Enter the Lady Libby, who's been hiding out in her retirement, avoiding adventure, until the brave knight Sir Piano Tim (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!) seeks her out. Libby is a really good sort and without any consideration at all, dives right into the adventure accompanied by Mirack, Gourd, and Sir Piano...Tim (I just threw up a little in my mouth.).

The real boss of this game is the guy with the blue paint roller! (Seriously, I did not realize I had left my pointer there. It's perfect though.)

Writing: This is a perfect late 80s/early 90s style game in every way, shape, and form. There's almost no exposition, the plot is described succinctly. Only a few sentences are spent on character development and then it's straight to the gameplay from there.

Gameplay: The gameplay here is remarkably smooth. It's done entirely by way of mouse and you move a cursor over everyone you want to move. Left-click to decide, and right-click to cancel. You move your players and if you come into range of an enemy, you decide whether or not to attack. You get a quick animation that shows how well the attacks did, and that's it. It's easy to get the hang of very quickly. The real challenge is budgeting your character's HP through the attacks until you get strong enough to weather them. As you advance, more people join your party as well. So far, I haven't lost anyone, but I understand that this is a roguelike. I also notice that people lose Gourd quite a bit. Do you not see the 18 HP? Why would you use him on your main assault? Ultimately, I have had to force myself to stop playing, otherwise, I'm never going to get to another game. Gameplay is fluid and addictive.

Graphics: Perfect for the nostalgia. This really puts me in mind of an old Nintendo game, one of the later ones before transitioning to Super Nintendo, when the graphics had become really refined. So far, I love everything about this game.

Except...

Piano Tim...

Sound: The music fits really well and doesn't distract you from the action. It really helps to get you into the game. The sound effects are also very appropriate. Everything points to a game made in the late 80s or early 90s and it really plays like that, too.

Conclusion: Absolutely recommended. This game is a lot of fun, and very addictive. Everything I've got left to say is totally gushing. I cannot think of a single criticism of this game. Except...(tries to say it, shoots Dy, instead).

Thanks for such a positive review, Tim Tom. Everything you pointed out told me that what I was trying to achieve, I achieved. Affirmation is a great feeling ヽ(´▽`)/

Spoiler Alert : If you play all the way to the end of the game, I'll finally almost get your name right.

I remember seeing this comment before and now that I have finished the game, I see I see.
Ooh, Piano Tim did a review of RMNEmblem. It's comprehensive, readable, and not too spoilery. I have to agree with Piano, in it's smoothness and overall quality. It's a shame that Dy is no longer among the living to make a sequel.

I shot him in the knee! With an arrow! His hands still work fine.
