Project Management 101

I have been hard at work not working on Hero's Realm: Heroic Edition, but instead building a project management framework around which I hope to, well, manage the project as it goes forward.
Bringing Sexy Back...via spreadsheets!
Here is what I have accomplished in (roughly) the past 3 weeks:
I have done next-to-nothing on the game itself in that time!
For all of my projects, I start with a single text file. I write down all of my brainstorming ideas in a semi-haphazard way. As more design and ideas come, I start organizing the text file into different sections. When it gets long enough, I even add a table of contents to the start of the document so I can quickly jump around the document with keyboard shortcuts. Once I get to a point where even that grows unwieldly, I separate out the high-level components into their separate text documents OR I create a single spreadsheet document with many different tabs to track different aspects of the game. Usually by the point I need to organaize my projects in this way, things are pretty set. By that I mean, investing the time to catalog everything in a spreadsheet isn't a wasted effort.
This remaster has reached that stage.
Is it worth a celebration? Perhaps. It does mean that I feel this project is solid enough to invest the time to this level of organization. The likelihood of this project being completed also shot up dramatically.
I could go into greater detail on the project management side of things, but I am not sure if anyone would be interested in how I added items to a spreadsheet and why...
Would anyone be interested in an article (or more likely, a series of articles) describing in detail how I am going about managing the Hero's Realm remastering project?
As an example of how far my text file for HRDX.txt (DX means Deluxe!), here is my Table of Contents:
The document is 4530 lines as of this blog post.
In any event, thanks for reading. Here is a picture of Holdana swinging a sword.

Feeling dizzy yet?
This is awesome, keep it up

Even though this means nothing coming from me; I'm impressed and proud of you
Yesterday I say me and Piano officially started with music and have been making great progress.
This is quite inspirational. I had been keeping some basic excel sheets but this sounds like a much more productive way to keep a dev motivated.
Keep it up! You're going places!

To say I know anything about actual project management is a stretch. I know what I like in a project manager (I've had a half dozen so far) and I know what I want to track (mostly). So everything I am doing is winging it from experience.
Did I ever share my original HR notes circa 2006-2009? I should dig those up.
I found those game development documents I was talking about for the original Hero's Realm. I uploaded them back in August 2009 for an IRC roundtable that Brickroad hosted about ...game design? project tracking? I can't remember.

This is just a DUMP of the files. I am not sure if anything relevant or informative can be gleaned from them. A window into my mind, I guess.
