Crescent Eve - Moon Cycle system.

Hey everyone!

Development on Crescent Eve is coming along pretty steadily, and I've gotten a good amount of the groundwork in place to start going forward with building the game. One of my goals for this project is to add a few additional mechanics that will aid (or simply add flavor to) gameplay and exploration.



Today I'd like to take some time to introduce the Moon Cycle system. The world of Crescent Eve is surrounded by two moons, one of which is always in the sky regardless of the time of day, and goes through phases. Similar to the Moon system seen in games like Shin Megami Tensei, the moon will go through its cycle as you walk around and explore. Depending on the phase you enter battle in, there is a chance that one of a number of effects can be bestowed upon you or your enemies.



Entering a battle during the full moon may grant you immunity to Surround, or could empower a monster that becomes stronger in the moonlight. Some phases may even grant you extra experience or gold. You might be surprised as to how certain monsters will act during certain phases!
