Something New, but not yet Impressive.

tl;dr Play it. You'll have some fun and experience a genuinely unique game. Part I here contains light spoilers and is an overview. Part II consists of bugs, my notes while playing, etc. There's no rating due to being a demo, though it would currently come in as a 2.5 or so. Overall, there are plenty of interesting concepts here, but they're hamstrung by some poor design choices. That sounds fairly stock...so I'll get right into detail.

Let's Draw a Pass-Off Comic!
This will be a Pass-Off comic. Basically, I will do a page, then the next person will get the page I did. That person will do a page and pass off ONLY THEIR page to the next person, and so on!
The Optimal RM2K/3 Number Guide

The point of this guide is to explain how 2k/3 works by default, and then how to optimize it so that you can better balance your game. You'd still be better off using VXP, but if you're in the middle of a 2k/3 project and wish to renovate it, follow this topic!
Okiku, Star Game
Okiku, Star Apprentice is the kind of game that you want to play when you have a short coffee break and want to kill some monsties. It took me just over an hour to complete. Its ambition is not to shoot for the stars, but to create a fun little diversion with neat mechanics and a cute main character. If that's all you're looking for in a game, then you're all sorted downloading this title.
The Amazing Stater Man 2
At the beginning of each month, we post all of the site's updated statistics. There are all sorts of lists in this thread: users are ranked by Makerscore and number of posts/reviews, games are ranked by views and downloads, and so forth. Where do you rank?
Final boss: super hard or not?
Should the last boss be super challenging - a legitimate final obstacle before you get to see the ending? Or has the player already achieved enough by getting there, making the boss simply part of the epic eye candy of the ending? Join the discussion!

Game Name Game!
So we haven't had a buzz spot in a while! Why not? Who knows, but be sure to check out the Game Name Event! The goal of the event is to take a game name from below, create a synopsis, mockups and concept art, and pitch it to RMN! This is a short event, so don't worry about having to invest too much time!
Mapping in 5 Easy Steps!

When it comes to mapping, some people have asked me the typical “How do you do it?” or commented “You’re fast”. The answer is being practical, using the editor, and practice. My mapping style is not pretty. I’m not a parallaxer. I use the editor and I'm a 100% RTP tileset. I’ll summarize my usual methods below.
The Deconstruction
The Reconstruction by Deltree is a strategy RPG created with RPG Maker XP that is extraordinary in both gameplay and story. successfully breaks with many traditions of generic RPGs and creates an experience that is, in one simple word, different.
THAWED NOTES ON GAME CHILL 2013
Now that Game Chill 2013 is finally behind us, let's take a look at each of the entries. I'll go through these in the approximate order that I played them. As with reviews, I will attempt to be as general as possible, but there are likely to be some spoilers in here. This is your final, and only, warning!
Light, Medium, and Heavy Armor: A Conundrum
For the longest time I've been struggling on how to make different armor types diverse and interesting. I have no problem with the creative process on making individual equipment cool and interesting, I have a wellspring of ideas on that subject, but a fundamental aspect of my game are three classes of armor, Light, Medium, and Heavy.
A simple first project is often the best choice.
How many times have you seen newbies announce their epic, 20+ hour long, feature-laden, script-infested first projects that they cancel shortly after? New RPG Maker developers must learn to recognise their limitations and work within them.

RPG 20XX Game File
The game compiler seems to work fine and fast. Every time you hit the test play button, it will compile and then invoke the engine on the generated .2xg file. It is intended for every game file to be in this .2xg file, including images and sound.. Kind of like a ROM file. Performance during playback is just as good (and sometimes better) than your typical folder of assorted files.
