Hey, y'all.

This update is a doozy, so I'm gonna hide the commits at the bottom for reference and broad-stroke it for you. I realize it's a day earlier than I usually update, but I have to present a progress report for this project tomorrow and I'd like to have all my ducks in a row.

So, quite a lot went into the engine over the last week. Let's take a look.
Spotlight: Goodbye, Academy
Goodbye, Academy by littleblueghost is a vibrant surreal adventure game wherein you piece together your memories in creepy landscapes within the mental world.
Not NaNoWriMo aka 6 parts; 6 to 6
As some of you may know, every November is the National Novel Writing Month. Usually it's a time for people to just up and say 'This year I will write the damn novel in my head and I'll do it in a month!'

I'm not doing that this year. I've been letting myself slack off a bit when it comes to writing so instead of writing an embarrassing book that I'd hide away forever after finishing, I'm starting a challenge to get myself back in shape instead. I'd like company on this voyage.

So what is the adventure I ask you to join me on? Nothing too strenuous, I assure you!

Interview: Volrath talks Labyrinthine Dreams, Dystopian Satire, and the Twins
As part of my interview series, I'm speaking to prominent developers/contributors in our RPG Maker Web community to gain insight on their inner workings. Today we speak to Volrath, the writing half/third of the Solest team that created the epic seven-chapter superhero saga Master of the Wind, the hugely promising demo of X-Noir, and most recently the dark moody puzzle-adventure game Labyrinthine Dreams, which recently launched a successful Kickstarter to the amount of $6,000. A graphically upgraded and revised Labyrinthine Dreams is coming soon to a download link near you.
My battlers are ridiculously detailed compared to my charsets...
I mean, this was always the intention, but now that I've made a handful of battlers the stark contrast is really striking.

Some tips to try to get your RM2k3 games running smooth in windows 8

First off, hello all, I'm Ramza, and I'm not nearly active enough in this community to be instantly recognizable to everyone. I was the webmaster of a rather large, and quite active rm2k3 website back in the day, and I'm a bit of an oldschool rpg maker 2k/2k3 "programmer" of sorts.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!?!?!? Well – I still can’t believe it! From what seemed like a long time running joke among the RMN forums that this long time community Super Mario Bros. fangame “will never be finished,” and “it’s like the ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ of all RM games” (okay, not really), halibabica and company shook the very foundation of time and space itself by FINALLY releasing “Super RMN World” – supposedly the greatest Super RMN Bros. game to date!

A large number of games, developed in the RPG Maker engine or otherwise, boast that they have multiple possible endings to the story.
Methodical Chaos I -or- An Introduction to Randomness in Game Design

I've been wanting to write about "randomness" for a long time now. This article is an introduction to the idea of randomness in games, where I try to explain some of the basic principles of designing games with chance in mind and showcase some good examples of chance in game design. My goal is to encourage designers to think critically about how random numbers affect their games and gameplay, and possibly encourage some new ideas. Hope you like it!
