Experience and Leveling Up
I wanted to know if anyone has found any good way in RPG MAKER yet to limit grinding when leveling up yet still using a good leveling system? I've yet to come up with a good way to do this.

Featured: The Drop
The Drop by Deltree is a unique rogue-like - all units have Body, Mind, and Soul ratings which serve as both health and magical power. Knocking any of these to zero means defeat!
Spotlight: Winter Blossoms
Winter Blossoms is a game by Racheal and MakioKuta based loosely on the Hans Christian Anderson tale, The Snow Queen, with charming characters and great custom artwork!
High level boss battle archetypes
I could have sworn we had a topic where we discussed and threw out high-level ideas for common boss battles, but for the life of me I can't find it. Sure, we have plenty of boss idea topics that go into INSANE detail and skill names like Ultra Mega Wind Ultimecium Attack, and we also have some more general boss design articles, but I am just looking for a simple list of common boss archetypes. Things that can be described in a single sentence.
On use of coarse language (swear words)...
'm in a situation where I'm not sure where the razor thin line I'm walking along lies.
Drie - Party Skill Sets

"Let 'me' figure it out!”'
Explaining the importance of games working on internal logic, and allowing players to solve dilemmas organically.

You're checking out promotional material for the latest AAA RPG from your favorite studio. You love the designs, the new art, the characters seem cool-looking, you're interested in checking out the newest gameplay mechanics.

But then you read the synopsis and it's a bunch of nonsense words you don't understand! What is this? What is this game about? Can you even tell? Did the writers even care if you could figure it out? Who is this game aimed towards?
Randomness
I've gone on record as generally hating, in RPGs, when my abilities randomly fail or have very random effects. I usually don't use those abilities, even if they're extremely strong. Not just because they're useless, but also because they're not fun.
How often should equipment change?
How often should a single piece of equipment change during a RPG (talking about "power levels" and not equipment variety here)?
Giveaway: Alcarys Complex
The final giveaway of the summer is here! This time you have to review a game on RMN during September. Participants will be entered into a raffle at the beginning of October.
Spotlight: Barbarians
Barbarians hate Mages almost as much as they love gold. Kill the Necromancer, get the treasure! Old-school Nintendo hard mechanics in the vein of the early Castlevania games.
Focus and Intent
Using simple meditation techniques to cut down on brain-chatter and to keep your project fresh and exciting.

When it comes to creating, the two most important lessons I could ever teach are this: do what you love, and don't be afraid to get stuck in.

Sometimes, these lessons conflict.

The initial enthusiasm for a project cools, the drive to add new scripts and narrative branches and custom assets falters, and the will to plod through reams of data entry for the sake of bug-testing and balance withers away.
Protecting your project from thieves.
Hello, everyone. I have a question that has been bothering me ever since I started working on my game. I have my own solutions to the problem, but I wanted to check with you guys, who have may more experience with this sort of thing than I do, and see if my solutions would work or if you guys would have better ones.
Villain RPG: A Hero's Tale
n every story and for every protagonist, there must be an antagonist. Whether this force that acts in the contrast of the "hero" is a physical being or simply a mental construct, conflict is what drives a story forward and what brings out true characterization. Now, I want for you to remember that word: characterization, as, in the case of RPGs, your antagonist is typically going to be some Big Bad Evil Guy (BBEG) whose sole desire in this world is to thumb his nose up at you. This thumbing action in most cases is to destroy everything you've ever loved without a second thought, but to leave it so black and white is to do the medium a disservice.
