Near perfect!
The five star reveiw that this game received was what drew me here originally; it's the first five star game i've played on rmn! I usually tend to play unrated games so that they can have a star rating, but after reading Rixel96's reveiw of "no-one has to die", i just had to see if it really lived-up to his very kind words.

In short, it does! However, i do not agree with the five star rating! I hate to be a downer, but that's the way I feel. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game! That's why i'm giving it the well-earned rating of... 4.5! But i just don't think it's perfect enough for those whole five stars! Let me tell you why...

As I'll be getting a little bit more free time and working closely with Vanit in the coming months, I'm curious to get some input from you my "audience".

When I see some creation I really like, I have a 50/50 chance of being either incredibly inspired or feeling overwhelmingly inadequate.
Capstone Release!
Reincarnation is Hirei's Thesis Project for her Capstone!
RMN needs your help (again)!
It runs us $150/month USD to host RMN. I do get some ad revenue, but that doesn't cover the whole bill, so naturally we rely on donations to sustain ourselves. Sadly, our server fund is drying up.
Capstone Release!
Capstone is an event celebrated by IUPUI's School of Informatics at which various students show off their final year projects. In the case of games, this is an amazing event where it's pretty much like a gaming convention. Each student/game gets their own booth and demo stations. This year over 300 people came and there were 100 students participating.

Character abilities
I don't think we have this yet, I searched and haven't found anything on it. Anyway, I'm curious of different developer's approach to presenting the player characters with a variety of abilities for strategic gameplay.
Difficulty: Challenge vs Frustration
Hey guys! I just finished my newest article about game design. It's kind of long, but I'll paste some highlights.

Frustration

So what exactly is frustration? What causes it? What makes a player want to turn off the game and never play it again?

Frustration occurs when the player feels as if his time has been wasted, and that the game is at fault

So you want to be a game developer?
A guide to GAM MAK

From the life and times of kentona (incidentally, "Life of Times" would be a good name for an RPG) comes this article about the game development process from a hobbyist's point of view. Making games this way is not serious business, but it does take serious commitment. Let's talk a bit about that whilst I inspire you with brilliant quotes from people who have accomplished things of actual merit.

Quietly invading RMN from Italy, Ad Quietem Postremam is a superb looking game from ImpaledJanus made in RM2k3. The artwork is astounding, and the story is intriguing.

Relationships of Love and Gaming
Commitment, as it applies to the virtual and real world.

A sad fact about the world is that more times that not, people grow up not hearing key things that will affect whether or not a healthy and lifelong relationship is something they're capable of committing themselves to, hence the staggeringly high percentage of divorces. If more mothers would be willing to sit down with their sons and tell that that it's not all about them and that they honestly need to be sensitive and listen, more couples whose relationships stand a fighting chance would likely stay together.
