What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

Two of the games I want to make this year are,
one mystery game about doomed lovers where the player's actions in one setting limit their abilities in the other.
I want it to be a minimalist aesthetic and hopefully something I can do in a month of so.

I also want to work in SRPGStudio and make a sort of micro-fire emblem. Main character is named Sif the Goblin.

Goaling It 2024

Goals for this year:
Another game in XP
My first game in SRPG Studio
4 games total this year.
4 Books at least read.
3 Games beaten.
and 1 article written every month.

What are you thinking about right now?

Life, gamedev.

Is AI generated art ethical?

Answering the thread question, no.

More foolish than balking at the numbers is assuming that humans don't fall prey to confirmation bias or gambler's fallacy.
Of course the absolute dumbest of people do fall prey to that, but that's no reason for a game designer to change their game.
It's not the dumbest of people it's everyone. You probably commit to confirmation bias every day. If you don't think you're biased then idk I have bad news. You keep talking about intelligence, but smart people make bad choices all the time. Games are made for humans, so it's probably good to take player psychology and bias into account. Like not putting a gacha/lizard brain reward system in your game is a descision motivated by "I don't want people to act irrationally around this"

Adding on to this, humans aren't 100% logical actors even in the best of times so to penalize them for being human is a bit unfair imo. Understanding players and what things they like can lend itself to making a more engaging game.

Goaling It 2023

Good luck to both of you I hope you make it to Vietnam this year Cap_H

and good luck on making 6 tech demos LordBlueRouge. 6 is a big task to me.

The goal of this year for me is monthly updates for Glory's Fools until the project is finished.
February, I'm hoping to have the databasing an majority of the maps handled. After that I'd like to work on getting trailers and promotional art out of the way.
I've managed to work on it everyday this year so far and I'd like to keep that energy going forward.

I'm hoping for a fall release date and after that, I think I'll work on either a tragedy or noir. Either way though I plan on getting Glory's Fools done first and foremost.

Christmas Greetings!

I got a bunch of snacks, my first review and fan art from the site, and finished Made In Abyss. It was a good Christmas.

Recently Watched Movies

Movies wise? I love to re-watch Friday every now and again. It's like the perfect movie to me, a flawed protagonist(how do you get fired on your day off?), goofy sidekick, a threatening villain, plus all the side characters blend so well. Best Movie for a rewatch.

Finally finished the Big Short, I don't get the hype but I did learn a lot. I have a interest in the "Don't Look Up" netflix movie but if it's just like The Big Short I can wait.
