Whachu talkin' 'bout, Addit? You can clearly see like a 5-tile RADIUS. Do you remember what the torch did in Dragon Warrior? That was a 1-tile radius. And that was if you had a torch. If you didn't then you had to feel around by sound.

Thank god I didn’t manage to get that far into the first Dragon Warrior, then. Only 1-tile, you say? That sounds absolutely brutal... Luckily this game doesn’t seem so bad compared to that.

@ Liberty - I don’t have much of problem with these types of dungeons as long as, A, the random encounter rate isn’t ridiculously dickish; B, the dungeon itself isn’t particular long to explore; C, you can either use a item or cast a particular spell, or find something within the dungeon itself that lightens the room up; and, D, if necessary, the dungeon itself is completely optional or skippable. Either way – prepare your peepers!

That's right, dark dungeons make a return from the first game. Prepare to get lost!



Please tell me that these types of dungeons are completely optional or at least you can use some sort of item, or cast a particular spell, or what not, to completely see through the darkness? Oh, god, I hope so. If not - then there better be some damn, fine ass treasure down there or I’m gonna have to start complaining!

So is this actually animated in-game? If so, that’s pretty damn awesome!

I guess the only two things that I would probably add to it myself would be to have the characters blink their eyes every once and a while and maybe have the clouds in the background move around a bit. Otherwise, either way, this is still pretty god damn fantastic. Whoever made this has got some real talent, that’s for sure.

I think they're okay if you get a good treasure drop from them. Ones that have no treasure? Yeah, those suck.

…Or ones where you’re about to open the bloody chest when SOME GUY comes out of nowhere (- Siegfried, FF6) and takes your hard earned treasure even after you beat him in a fight. I don’t like shit like that... (even if it was pretty humorous, actually).

I think it would be nice if there was some sort of way of telling mimics apart from real treasure.

Different design maybe? They should look like something else than just a mere chest wit teeth.

Maybe when you get close to a chest with a mimic in it, it starts to get up out of position and then it starts chasing you throughout, large fangs and evil eyes and all, and then it stops chasing you after you get away from it after a certain distance. At least you got a pretty good chance to react to it - and even get a good spook out of it!

Hmmm…! Blood Forest certainly looks a lot more brighter and prettier than it was before... I like it! I always thought that the original Blood Forest was a bit too dark to navigate through and the forest overlay seem to not help the matter much. This certainly looks a lot more manageable now (unless Ara Fell now has a day and night cycle and this is just going into the forest during the daytime).

Also – what’s up with the guards now? If you get too close to the gate on the other side will they just kick you out? This actually might be good spot to use either the crawl mechanic or having Lita just having to walk pass this part instead of just running along.

Either way, looks pretty good! I like the new spider sprite too.
