AEGIX_DRAKAN'S PROFILE

About me:

Pun loving Canadian, friendly neighbourhood "Ace", and Narrative Designer at Nine Dots Studios.

I've been a huge fan of RPGs (especially turn based ones) since I was young, and it warms my hearts to be able to make RPGs that other people can enjoy.

I thrive on crafting stories that others enjoy, as well as finely tuning combat to be challenging, but fair.

We're getting down to the last week! How is everybody doing?

Preeetty good, thanks for asking!

Some decisions I took early on are paying off real well and that makes me happy.

Specifically that all 3 of the dungeons in the game are basically the same difficulty. It makes designing the enemies much much easier, I was able to crank out the entire second one in just one night

I'm definitely gonna be done on time, and the game feels substantial enough that with a few tweaks/improvements I think I might release this for real after the event is over.

Theme Roulette 4

My theme setting is "Medieval", so I'm keeping it as low-fantasy as possible (no magic, etc) to be as faithful to that as possible...

But I'm likely going to delve just a little bit into the fantastical for the monsters. Sure I'll have some wolves and eagles and stuff...But I really don't have enough monster graphics that aren't fantastical at all. XD

Theme Roulette 4

After SEVERAL false starts, some grumbling and a lot of tinkering, I have the most baseline template for how my game will go.

Still have some MAJOR decisions to make though, like how to divide up the "work" areas (Ie, the places that players will go to do "work" and access that area's dungeon)...

But overeall, it's coming together surprisingly well.

(WORD - Trap) (GENRE - Horror) (SETTING - Modern)

Wow, I really like this one! Thank you for the reroll!

Oh yeah, that's got some spooky potential! :D

Theme Roulette 4

I think I need to see a gammak therapist about my addiction for making complex combat systems.

Because looking at all my design notes for this game, my plans are WAY too big. No player would need all of this, for a game this small in scope. XD I need to take a lot of stuff back to the drawing board and simplify.

Theme Roulette 4

Oh my gosh, the SIMPLEST part of my project is already giving me the most grief. XD

Because of how common events are handled (executes AFTER the current event has run), it's making it QUITE hard to create a very simple "Interact with point, menu opens, X Class uses Y skill to mine/chop/etc at that location, give player item and job points, point goes inactive" system.

I'll figure something out eventually, but hoo boy, I was not expecting to lose an hour to what I thought would be the easiest part of the game to make. :P

Theme Roulette 4

Aaaaand I believe the start date and time has just ticked over!

*opens new project* :D

Theme Roulette 4

(WORD - Jobs) (GENRE - Coming of Age) (SETTING - Medieval) ?

I have to say, I got a really easy set of themes and I must thank you Illy. :D

I already have some really good ideas.

Thinking of taking "jobs" literally and having the game be about not just having a Job system, but literally be about working a bunch of jobs in order to pay off a sudden inherited debt. :P

Theme Roulette 4

Alright, hit me with something. I'm feeling a little inspired for some gammak.

If so I might jump on this and see if I can make a little something.
