AEROFUNK80'S PROFILE

There are two things I love: video games and writing. I've enjoyed writing stories since I was very young, and I'm an 80/90's kid, so my childhood was Atari, NES and SNES. I wanted to go to school for video game design, but that's not where life took me. When I discovered RPG Maker, it allowed me to take my two passions and fuse them together. I absolutely love creating fantasy worlds, writing the lore and developing characters. I do lack the artistic creativity and plugin knowledge, but I like to think I make up for that in storytelling. I love the old school RPG's where they gripped us with great stories: Final Fantasy 2&3, Chrono Trigger, Lufia and Secret of Mana to name a few. Tales of Yuria is my way to tell the first chapter of the world I've been creating for years.

[RMMV] Rage State Based on HP

So, what I'm wanting to do in my game is have a barbarian that, basically, goes into a rage when his HP's are low. Once he goes to his Crisis/Danger stance, I want a Rage State to applied that increases his attack output. I can create the state just fine, the part I'm struggling with... any idea how you can have a state apply to your character once your HP's reach a certain %?

Is there a workaround inside MV? Or if this would require a plugin... any idea which plugin would accomplish this best?

Thanks in advance :-)

RPG Maker MV: Music Pause

So, the one thing I've been noticing with RPG Maker MV vs RPG Maker VX Ace (the two systems I've used most recently) is that with MV... when you enter a new map, the music takes a few seconds to start up. There's an awkward silence.

I've tested the exact same music in VX Ace and it starts up right away.

I searched online and found one particular post that recommended I put a PreLoad Manager plugin in my game. However; I want to make sure I get the best recommendation. Has anyone tested any plugins or have the best approach to fixing this? Figured I'd ask since I couldn't find anything recent online.

Thanks in advance for any help :-)

Dead by Daylight

Any Dead by Daylight fans out there? If so... favorite killer?

Event Chase & Follower Touch

So, I'm currently using Yanfly's Event Chase Player script, which works amazing. However; the battle only triggers when the event touches the player. It attempts to go around followers, and if it can't get to the player, it stops moving. I want it to trigger if it touches a follower, too.

I tried fixing this by using HIME's Follower Touch script. However; it doesn't appear to work with Yanfly's (or maybe it does, and I'm missing something).

For Yanfly's event chase to trigger, it has to be done in a CUSTOM movement type. For HIME's to work, it has to be done in an APPROACH movement type. Because of this, I can't get them to work together.

Any idea if I'm either doing something wrong, or possibly missing something? Or maybe you know of a different script? Below are a couple screenshots of the event I'm trying to get to work.

PAX East: Most Anticipated Indie Games

So I recently returned from PAX East and, while the major developers have some great games, I really enjoy seeing what the indie devs are working on. Quite a few really caught my attention, and since many of them were RPG and adventure games, I figured I'd share some with the community. Most of them are on Steam, but none to purchase just yet. You can, however, check out screenshots and videos.

-Dark Devotion: On Steam. Side-scrolling, metroidvania style game with a Dark Souls feel. I'd compare this to Salt and Sanctuary or Death's Gambit.

-Sparklite: On Steam. A rogue-like top down action/RPG that reminds me of an old school Zelda. Very cute and colorful graphics. Characters and enemies have some great combat animations.

-Swag & Sorcery: On Steam. Being developed by the same studio that did Graveyard Keeper. Build a fantasy village, create and equip your heroes and delve into a dungeon for "swag." Really cute graphics.

-Alkimya: On Steam. Top-down action RPG with bright, colorful environments. The action was pretty fast paced with a lot of dodging and evading.

-Wytchwood: On Steam. RPG with some really interesting artwork. You play an old witch that has to explore a unique forest gathering ingredients and crafting potions to use. The part I really liked was how you actually determined the fate of various NPC's that visit your forest.

-Bloodroots: On Steam. Fast-paced hack n' slash action game where every object can be used as a weapon and the environment is destructible. Really nice top-down animations with lots of blood and gore.

-Undermine: On Steam. A rogue-like adventure game with a few RPG elements. Cute graphics and interesting boss battles. Reminded me a bit of Spelunky but top-down play style instead of a platformer.

-Monster Sanctuary: On Steam with a DEMO. The tagline was "monster taming meets metroidvania." Collect, train and battle monsters in a side-view pixel world.

Tribes of Midgard: Not on Steam yet (will have to Google). Co-op with up to 10 players in a server. You work together to build up a Norse tribe and village, gathering and crafting. Every 5 days your village gets attacked by a giant, that you and your friends have to defeat. You play to see how many giants you and your friends can conquer before you, basically, die yourself.

-A Fold Apart: On Steam. This was my favorite game I demoed. It's a puzzle game where you play a character that's in a long distance relationship. You have to find your way to your partner by bending and folding pages of a book to form bridges and blocks to pass. Really great animation, amazing backgrounds with a stylish look and feel. The part that really impressed me is that, at the start of the game, you get to choose the couple: male/female, male/male, female/female. Worth checking out.

These are just a few that really caught my eye. I just wanted to post on here because typically indie games don't get enough love and media support. Hope you find a couple interesting ones in here :-)

PAX East Anyone?

Anyone going to PAX East this month? Or any gaming conventions in 2019?

I went to PAX East last year and it was the most amazing thing ever. The major devs had some good games but the indie devs were amazing. I'm starting to get really excited for this year and thought I'd see if anyone else was too.

Free Game Artwork?

Looking for some pictures for my opening scene, and I was curious where everyone goes to get free artwork to use? It's a non-commercial game, and I need some to use during the opening story scene. I love Deviant Art, but most of that is commissioned or permission hasn't been given by the user.

Just curious if anyone knows of any good fantasy websites?

Go To Design Music

I typically listen to music while I work on RPG Maker. Just curious what type of music you tend to listen to while you work on your projects?

Me... I tend to listen to more alternative rock/pop punk music: Icon For Hire, Pvris, Panic at the Disco, The Cab and Marianas Trench are some of my favorites.

Best Download Site to Host Game

Question? My game just recently got posted to RMN. I have the file saved in Dropbox and you download it via there. However; it says "this download is hosted on another server other than RPG Maker.net"

I'm concerned that by my download being hosted by Dropbox, some may have issues downloading or perhaps won't continue with the download. I didn't see how you can upload it directly to RMN, so I guess I'm asking how? Or... does anyone have a better recommendation for a website to host my game/download?

Someone just recently asked on my game page how you download via Dropbox, so that's where my concern comes in. Are others facing the same issue possibly and just not saying anything? Want to make it as easy as possible for people to play :-) Thanks!

Hail and Well Met

Just wanted to say hello. 38 year old here from the US. Love playing video games and writing, so RPG Maker has been a god's send. I'm loving your site and the community. Everyone's been very welcoming. Looking forward to making some friends and getting to know everyone. :-)
