Should I put the game (TRASH PLANET) on Steam in addition to RPG Maker? Thinking of doing RPG Maker, Steam, and Itchio. Free on RPG Maker, and name your own price on the other two (if possible). Let me know what you think if you're reading this!

Steam does not do Pay What You Want, unfortunately (one of the biggest changes I wish they would make). You can either put it up there for free or make it the minimum of $0.99 USD.

Interesting. Maybe put it up there for free with a paypal / Kofi / donation link in the comments? I don't wanna ask people for money, really, but if they're willing to chip in a buck or two I'd be fine with it. I might also make merch instead of charging. I'm in a band and know screen printers and could easily get some shirts made or something

Does Steam do a name your own price?

Also, yeah, totally. People cross-post all the time. I did that with some of my completed games on GameJolt back in the day, for example.

I'm not sure if Steam does name your own price, but if not they totally should allow for it. I don't know if I'm comfortable charging a set amount for my game, if anything, since I'm just making it myself in my free time.

Starting to think that being in Quarantine is the only reason I'm actually gonna finish this game, rofl

That's wild. Quarantine gave me that day I needed to implement what I was ready to implement - but then I was back to be unproductive.

In hindsight, this whole quarantine thing is? very stressful? Of course I'm not going to get anything done!

I have an evil reptile brain that will eat me alive if I don't constantly work, so I've been able to get a lot done. Guess that's the plus side of it, haha

The grind is real T___T

It sure is. Getting a game across the finish line is tough -_-

Yeah, every second I'm not working on the game in Quar I'm kicking myself for not working on it. Seems like a toxic feedback loop, haha

Hiring a professional singer to sing the ending song for Trash Planet. Anyone got any recommendations for "heartwarming video game credits song" that's not the obvious ones (Your Reality, the one from Portal, etc)

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll check all these out

Small of Two Pieces is always my go-to heartwarming video game song. The lyrics are on the nonsensical side but it always stuck with me, be it nostalgia or something else.

If you have trouble thinking of any other songs as examples, remember that the examples don't have to be from video games. Any other song (from movie endings or just a song by itself) that captures the feeling you want is sure to be helpful to the singer :D

Edit: Here's another from Mirror's Edge.
And one from Ico tho it might not be as helpful.

This sounds like Michael Bolton, in a good way

Should I post a demo of TRASH PLANET before I release it? Or should I just unleash it upon the masses

Looks like we're just gonna unleash the beast

I passed the Bar Exam in MO, looks like not working on my game for 4 months to study was worth it. haha

Someone from RMN passed the Bar exam? This must mean...

The bar is pretty low.

All joking aside, this is great. Congratulations! I guess from here on out, you're no longer...

Barred from gammak.

I know the "Bar was pretty low" thing was a joke, but only 49% of people in Missouri passed the Bar Exam this year actually haha

I guess you could say I

Wish I could go to a bar and celebrate but we're in global quarantine

Thanks!

Wow, congrats! That's tough work!

Indeed it was, haha. And expensive too T___T

Still workin' on Trash Planet. Took a bunch (four?) months off to study for the Bar Exam. But, we're back in this.

I'm glad you gave up on that deadend career as a lawyer to come back and work on retro games full time
