What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

@AtiyaTheSeeker
That's not the one I was thinking of, but it looks cool nonetheless. Classic Ultima Online is what I meant (here's an interview with the developer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRpepiz_Lvc), which is an MMO version of the first four Ultima games. Caves of Qud seems like something I'll have to try. As for roguelikes being impossible, that's the motto of Dwarf Fortress - "Losing is Fun!"

Also getting up the courage to try an MMO that plays like a classic Ultima game, called "Euotopia". It seems interesting enough, and I actually am intrigued by how the game mechanics and its Monk class work according to its wiki.

Is that the one based off Ultima 4?

Right now I'm hooked on Mount & Blade: Viking Conquest. Playing as a ruthless bastard murderous Norseman.

PS1 Classic, anyone?

They can't even get the NTSC games right... https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-playstation-classic-emulation-first-look

Exactly! They don't seem to give a damn.

PS1 Classic, anyone?

Well, I cancelled my preorder today and got a full refund after hearing that nine of the games are the wrong region, meaning that they don't exactly work properly on NTSC. I didn't really care about the games library, as most of my old PSX games are gone and the ones I still have aren't on the classic, but if I'm throwing $100 at something I expect it to fekking work! This makes me wonder what ELSE is wrong with it that hasn't been discovered yet.

Books you have read

Lately I've just gotten through rereading The Maneaters of Kumaon, The Maneating Leopard of Rudraprayag, the Temple Tiger and Jungle Lore by Jim Corbett. Right now I'm reading The Maneaters of Tsavo by J.H. Patterson.

Did you see the games list? There's literally only four or five games on the US/UK version I would play, and I have them all. The Japanese version gets all the good games. What the fuck, Sony? The Japanese version gets Parasite Eve but the US doesn't? Why isn't Einhander on here, or Final Fantasy Tactics?

If I'd seen the full list, I probably wouldn't have preorderd, but whatever. I don't know anyone who preferred the console versions of Rainbow Six to the PC, and GTA 1 was awful. GTA 2 was much, much better. The only reason I can think of they're on there is because of GTA 5 and Rainbow Six Vegas.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of gam mak?

@GreenBanana

In 2006, something changed. Gaming just ain't gaming anymore, for me.

My favorite part, so far: Pixel art. My least favorite part: Autotiles.

Games that specifically work on Windows are ahead of ones that run on DOS. There are games that sit in that strange range of PC games released around 95-2004 that are a hit or miss when it comes to running on modern Windows. Anything using a really outdated direct x is likely going to require steps to get it running properly (hope in god you get fullscreen properly with proper aspect ratio, no blurriness or artifacting issues).

The game Dark Stone I had to roll back my audio drivers to default to stop the audio from skipping and this was with the legally purchased GoG copy. There were no clues on the forums on how to fix the various problems and I ended up just developing my own solutions. To have a box that doesn't make you go through that would be a blessing. Though I've no idea on the particular specs of the "PC Classic" though, so if it's a raspberry pi with dosbox auto installed then that obviously doesn't address the consumer need I mentioned.

The video on their website (Here: https://unitetechno.com/dt_catalog/pc-classic/) specifically says "Classic DOS games", so I'm not holding my breath. I'm fully aware of hard it is to get post-DOS games running. Sometimes I can get them to work with compatibility mode, sometimes not. Then there's a few games - for me Starcraft, Morrowind and Deus Ex (probably Warcraft 3, too) that just run with no issues.

@sidewinder AWESOME Please tell me it plays like WingCommander
Well... kinda. But mostly no.

You'll be able to fly around space, get into fights and trade commodities but the actual piloting will just be pre-rendered cinematics, selected via a menu. As much as I'd love to make Wing Commander: Privateer in RPGmaker 2003, it's just way beyond my skill level.

Here's a video of it in action, if you're curious.

THAT'S Rm2k3? Holy Schnikes!

PS1 Classic, anyone?

Swords or pistols?

I heard yesterday about a kickstarter for a "PC Classic"...still don't know if it's for real or a scam or whatever. I mean...why? If you have a semi-modern computer you can run old games, assuming they work on DosBox.
