I'm so excited to have these two on the podcast ^_^ Ask away, y'all.
Do they enjoy horror, and if so, what aspect of it?
What types of horror games are gooder than others, in their opinion? : D

What makes horror enjoyable for you?

I personally struggle over this question, because I like, and have played on multiple occasion, Resident Evil 4 and Parasite Eve. However, I'm being tasked to do a thing in Upon, and the ideas I have to make things "scary but fun" is like... I don't even know.

Your questions have been noted! And they are good ones :)
What aspects make a horror RPG maker game good (Characters, story, plot twist, etc.)?

You're magical to me.

Most RPG Maker Horror games ditch the combat aspect of RPGs. Can you make a horror game that combines traditional RPG combat and still conveys fear? How would you go about making such a game?

Also, is there a place where episodes of the podcast are hosted? So I can see whenever a new one comes out? :DDD
What's the most scariest RM horror game you've played?

Do you think developers making these games are at a disadvantage in making them scary in anyway? E,g First person vs 2D top down perspective.

What are the most common plot devices?

Do you think their popularity has already reached their peak?

How would you like to see the subgenre evolve in the next few years?

Ideally, I'm going to make it available anywhere podcasts are usually... vendored? (There's definitely a better word for that.) I'll post 'em up here and hopefully get them on the Spotifys, the SoundClouds, the Podbeans and whatever podcatchers people use. Podcatchers! That's the word. I'll make a big post here about it, though, so don't worry.
What would you say to someone who avoids Horror RPG Maker games, simply because they can't see them being scary? Someone who doesn't think "villager01.png" laying face down in pixel blood can build an atmosphere?

Or, to make it more specific:

  • What makes an RPG Maker Horror game effective? What boxes does it need to tick?

  • What does an RPG Maker Horror need to do, to appeal to that kind of audience (specified above)?
