i know you can't nominate commercial games for Misaos, but if i could, i'd nominate "Prayer of the Faithless" for the Not Dead Yet Award. I mean, holy crap, 7 years in the making and it turned out brilliant. What an achievement.

I don't think people are farming RMN for commercial success anymore, so it would be nice for some of these RMN-centric commercial games to finally get their dues... for those whom the Misaos matter the most. i dunno :) <3

Yeah, I kinda get you. This year has been pretty hard on the Misaos in general, from what I'm seeing. Alas, the most I can do at this point is put it into the Misao thread. At the very least, if we do off-site voting again, I would see it included in the list for "The kentona Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Commercial Excellence".

Hehe that would be nice, actually. Although I imagine we probably won't be able to code it so that Commmercial games can only be offered to that one award, due to, you know, the coder for the site not being able to work on new features. (Which is fine with me, to be honest.) I just hope (not a serious suggestion, because in the end, it's up to the owner/s) that one day commercial games might be nominateable. We don't get too many shills here anymore, I think. Not as much as we used to, anyway.

As for general Misao noms... thanks for reminding me. I went through and nommed all my faves :)

I'm flattered you'd nominate it for a Misao if you could, but it is what it is. If commercial games are allowed to be nominated, I don't want the whole site policy to change just to accommodate me. For now, a comment/download/review on the game would be worth ten nominations.

I'll happily accept a nomination for "dead developer" though, because I still feel like a ghost even three months after releasing it.
Commercial games are a pretty normal thing nowadays so I wouldn't think it's a big deal to have one award for it.

I should probably look at some potential misao noms though
Never really got why commercial games can't be nominated for Misaos. Isn't it that those games benefit the most from being spotlighted this way?

It's been a number of years since it became possible for a gamepage to be tagged as a commercial game to begin with. I don't recall what the negotiations looked like, but, it's possible one of the items of negotiation was to disallow commercial games from the Misaos. I think the fear back then was that commercial games would, in general terms, consistently outshine the free games that exist?

For what it's worth, I would agree that, at this point, commercial games are as part of the site as non-commercial games. They should be able to be nominated for Misaos. However, I have no idea what it would take for them to be able to be nominated. Like, I'm pretty sure Liberty asked ankylo for commercial games to be able to be nominated sometime last year. Yet, here we are, still unable to do it. I dunno if he's just super-busy, or if it's super-hard to pull off, or if it's some combination of the two.

I kinda wish I could help anky. Or, at least, understand the general process of how it could (or could not!) get this to happen. However, I'm just a small-time hack. ;_;
When we started Misaos there weren't any commercial games. Or at least, they were extremely few and far between since engines had to be bought via Japan in order to legally own them for commercial use.

Nowdays, well, we did try to have the option for it last year but the code was fucking up completely and wouldn't count commercial entries for whatever reason. Thus why we held an off-site vote last year - to check how it would work out (did well enough). So we'll probably do that this year unless we somehow get it fixed.

It does mean that we'd have to hand-pick commercial games since they can't be nominated, sadly, but I think we can do that easily enough. Thankfully the sorting system works well at least. XD

Hehe, mmhm! In that case, I'd like to (casually) nominate "A Ghostly Rose" and "Prayer of the Faithless" XD
