Basically a retro styled mid 90s SNES JRPG. I've done all the music, LunC has written a script, Fighter does most of the heavy coding and Doppleganger is our artistic supervisor, doing a lot of the graphics himself and outsourcing some tasks to freelance pixel artists.

that makes me happy. i'd always wished more teams would form from rm scene people to make serious original projects

Sure is easy to impress when all you do is screenshot a game and throw your charset on it (and a bad overlay). So effort.

thats weird how the game he screenshotted had seiken 3 and star ocean tiles in it

the rtp has a wider variety of settings than reusing nothing but rudras and suikoden chipsets for six years (and not even having played the games, which is the real travesty). gamingworld more like creative bankruptcy world

As a person whose future business will almost certainly depend upon Kickstarter, GOD DO I HATE THE MOTHERFUCKING MOTHERFUCKERS THAT DON'T DELIVER ON THEIR FUNDED KICKSTARTERS. You are poisoning the well for all of us you insufferable assholes.

rainfall and yogscast ruined kickstarter

How 'bout that new Star Wars, eh?

its so dense

every single image has so many things going on

Yo I am looking for a pixel art sempai

thought i'd ask here first because i might know somebody (DE, Clest, others)

been teaching myself pix on and off for the past year but i want to learn faster so i'm looking for some instruction. maybe exchange edits or do some screen sharing or whatever. i'll pay and stuff, can work out rate/times whenever

here's how far i've gotten, i'm not satisfied and feel like i'm hitting a wall with what the art theory i've studied is letting me do, i know stuff is wrong because things feel bad to me but don't have the experience to identify and correct it

i am willing to eat less plain rice this month to learn

SPRITES

Aristocrat madmen sprites
Girl sprite w/joke "walk cycle"
Soldier sprites

ENVIRONMENTS

Light animation
Mansion tileset
Stairs
Older Urban tileset

if you're really good at color/sprites/environments/value/etc and think you might be an effective teacher (no pressure) drop me a line

ps: i could probably also teach high level music theory as payment if anyone wanted that instead of human money

This thread made a very interesting read. I had been wondering about #shmup, too. Just remember that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

it was interesting for me too in the sense that it was the most surreal thing i've ever read

i don't know if it's intentional revisionism or a delusional interpretation of reality but it's incredibly bizarre having spent time in a community i valued making posts asserting a genuine and heartfelt stance on video game/artistic issues and then i look back a couple years later and a few people around at the time who reacted with extreme disproportion to any mention of basic standards or creative principles or general logic are here painting this picture of digital terrorists who created some kind of internet holocaust that deeply traumatized hundreds of lives

and then there's other people i've never even heard of echoing them as if they just heard about it second hand and started to believe they too lived through this imagined cataclysm. and otherwise factually asserting things they have no way of really knowing about people they don't know or understand

it's fascinating. unbelievably puzzling but fascinating phenomena

kentona was a solid bro though
