Got a Degica Email about "Hero and Daughter." It looks even worse than the normal RM* shite on Steam. Impressive.

for those brave enough to look at really ugly drawings of "pretty girls"

The anatomy's a bit off (them craniums...), but other than that I think the art actually looks pretty nice.
The stock Ralph artwork mixed in with the custom characters is really jarring.
E: Like, I guess that's kind of the "point", but still...

Ugh... all of this looks terrible. The inconsistent art style, the horrible story, the gaudy overall feel of the game... -_-
This goes to show that you don't have to try hard to sell shit. We are gods compared to that, so we honestly could get by with a lot of stuff we release as a commercial aspect.

it makes money. i mean look at ardorlea and amaranth. indinera is doing fine, supposedly... sigh
Shovelware man, shovelware. Welcome to the future if people dont start cranking out way more good stuff soon here.

I think Amaranth in particular (don't know about the rest) have a bit more of a legacy behind them, so they'll always have an audience who will buy their shovelware (weren't they one of the first companies to bring RMXP games to the commercial market?).

Nah, nothing's actually changed, it's just that the loads of shovelware eventually gets forgotten over actually good titles. So... I think we're on a good track!
Received that email as well. Was flagged as spam. It wasn't the first one too. Are these really from Degica?
Looking at it, it's... fine, I guess. I admit that I'm somehow interested, and want to know how they executed the supposed plot. Though in no way am I going to pay for it. If it was free, then I'd probably give it a go. But 10 bucks? No thanks. I'd rather use that money to buy a month's supply of cookies or something.
The "pretty girls" are okay, too, imo. They have huge-ass foreheads, and tacked-on tits, sure. But it's decent enough *shrugs*
Warning: Some of the female characters are scantily clad - may not be suitable for childrenYeah, sure. "Some" >_>

Unfortunately, yes, it's really from Degica. A lot of us are confused as to why shit like this gets to be published but actual good games that are out there and wanting someone to publish them don't.
Degica, for srs.
I'm gonna request a key for this one Keymailer and do an LP (if they give me a free key. I ain't payin' for this shit.)

People just want to make a few bob from their hobby without sacrificing the luxury of dicking around with their work. They either don't know, or don't care that in order to sell their stuff, they need to step up their game, and make their shit look more professional.
I lost faith in Steam RPG Maker games when I saw that one that blatantly ripped sprites from Suikoden, and implemented them poorly into the battle system.

P-Please don't mention that game. I had hell dealing with the creator of it who still maintains that they have the right to do what they did. :/
If I was more rude than I am, I'd be tempted to post "Hey people, come to http://rpgmaker.net for tons of free games better than this one!" on games like this.
I have to admit, I've considered trying putting future games I'd make on steam for like $1 or free or something in the future, but I'm pretty sure they'd get less downloads on Steam than they do here.

People conflate value with cost all the time - you'd get more downloads if you charged $5.99 than $1 - I guarantee it. (or $5.99 on sale 85% off for $1)
My first response to that email was *cringe*
The second thought was "huh. I used to want to have Degica promoting my game, should I ever go commercial. Now... not so much."

I'd be happy selling a game that paid for my engine and assets. Anything after that I would be ecstatic
pfft, like I'd ever have the wherewithal to actually follow through in my aspirations to release a commercial game. It's all a pipe dream anyway.

p. much. A $1 game isn't going to push many units, especially since $1 price tags are becoming associated with joke/gag games like Bad Rats, (Anything)-Simulator, etc.
Unless the right person finds it and spreads the news about it, it's probably not gonna sell.
