Probably because there's no power! I mean, it's pitch black in there, I can only see about a 4x6 tile area in the middle, and most of that is the floor.

If there's no power, how does the tv even get static though?

Some of the lights still work in the house, so some power still exist, but it's meant to be very dark (Giving the illusion of isolation) and there are other stuff that work from this (stuff move etc.)
