Steamed Hams, but it's RPGMAKER2003! Review

2019: this game cured my depression 5/5

Kryopolis Review

Thanks for the review! I'm surprised at the reception it got since it's such a short game, but I guess that's what the term 'vertical slice' is for. It hits home in that regard I guess.

Nemoral Review

Very honored to have a review for this! Yeah I think you definitely nailed the part about how the RM influence and the GameMaker engine has sort of combined to create a both of best worlds situation. It lead to a series of interesting choices throughout development for sure. A long time ago I made an argument as to why you shouldn't make ABSes in RPGMaker, and this subconsciously became a living/breathing argument for that.

I should mention most of the graphics weren't custom but from White Screw Shop however there was a ton of editing done to the colors and charset animations (the monster was original). The preset chipsets saved a lot of time but they ultimately have the issue of not being able to invent anything unique landmark wise. Fun fact, the maps were first made in RM2003 then ported into GM, but I've since been using the built in tileset editor with GM more now.

I plan for my next project to have a better narrative and something more substantial as those seem to be the main complaints throughout both of my games so far. But the formula for the level design and how the enemies play into it seem to be a success.

Off the Table Review

It's not so much the music itself was repetitive just that there was no change of music until getting to the basement. More a critique on track variety than anything.

But yeah, no problem. It was a nice little game.

Dark Quest Review

tbf in the maze shot if you stop thinking of them as ceiling tiles and visually more as half elevated walls they kind of make sense. just that alex I mean yale would be able to climb over them.

Siesta-Rena (IGMC 2014) Review

Thanks for the feedback! Will keep things noted.

Siesta-Rena (IGMC 2014) Review

I was going start with excuses on how it was a month project but your commentary made me realize there were a lot of "choices" i could have done differently that don't require experience or copious amounts of time.

Originally you were just going to be diving into peoples dreams, but I felt the need to make the story more interesting by having some sort of problem or dark secret. I also wanted to reward the player with something so I thought up the strangest ending I could think of on the spot. Unfortunately those ideas were thrown together and it shows. I wish I could pretend the arsonist and fireplace thing was linked but I didn't even think of that lol.

Thanks for the review.

Please if you want to comment on Corfaisus's review then don't do it here. Go do it on his review. I am pretty sure I mentioned everything and I am not going to change my mind despite what anyone says, if you think differently please go do your own review on the game and don't force your opinions upon me.

Oh I don't want you to change your mind, I just want you to defend the game better.

-Support your points. It’s great to have opinions on a game, and I love reading them. But I expect at least some reasoning if you claim something. If you just declare that you love or hate something, I’m going to ask you for more details.
