What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

I'm thinking of a game where at certain points of the plot, you have to choose between two or more choices, and choosing one will increase your trust score with one of your party members and grant them new skills or equipment, while decreasing your score with the others AND potentially making them leave the party for a long time until you raise your trust scores again by other means. Not only that, the choices can open up new quests related to the appeased party member while locking out the others, and then these new quests can give you more choices. The challenge is that most of the quests are branching and will never overlap with each other. I'm planning to do this on RPG Maker VX Ace, but I've never seen a game that did this. That, or I haven't explored enough of this site. Oh, and if you're gonna suggest a game, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL DON'T MAKE IT A HORROR OR SUSPENSE game.

rpgmaker.net needs your help (again)!

Yay! A new person! Congratulations on learning to write coherent English so quickly!
Joking aside, welcome to RMN! If you have any questions, there's plenty of people here who will be happy to help out.
Actually, English is technically my second language. I say "technically" because I'm actually better at English than at my native language. It helps that our family preferred English shows, and most of my friends also speak English. That doesn't mean that I can't understand my native language though; I just struggle with some of its rare or more obscure words. Anyway, thank you for the warm welcome!
Oh, that's good. It was actually supposed to be a joke...you know...a new person...implying he hasn't been a person for very long...it's amazing a new person could learn to write so quickly...

Oh well. I guess I can't always hit the target.

...oh no, I'm so sorry for ruining your joke. That happens a lot - even my friends are sometimes annoyed that I don't get their jokes. I'm very forward, so I guess my sarcasm detection isn't very good. Which is why I prefer lurking around forums to participating in the discussions.

didn't you just join

Actually it's supposed to both refer to the game I'm making, which is an indefinite state of limbo, and the fact that I still have school and probably won't be participating much on the site. Today (tonight?) just happened to be a slow day, but once exams and papers start piling up, I won't be responding to anything. Once I finally finish this semester, I will have time to implement the game. But thanks for your concern, it was much appreciated.

Good luck studying things up! Any engine's fine, and so is a "cliché" idea. Hope you do it well and have fun around the site ~
Oh, thank you! I was worried that there would be people who would judge me for still using Ace, but your comment reassured me that won't be the case. Also, yeah, I misspelled cliché, I'll probably have to edit that.

Hello. After several months of lurking around the site, I've decided to introduce myself. My name is DarylSun, and I'm a casual gamer who hopes to learn enough to become a decent RPG game designer.

During the latter months of 2015, after I decided that writing stories wasn't enough as a creative outlet, I developed an interest in game designing, specifically interactive fiction and RPGs. The December of that year, after months of deliberation, I got a copy of RPG Maker VX Ace and began playing around with it. Why not the new engine, RPG Maker MV, you may wonder? Because A) JavaScript gives me bad memories, and B) I found that VX Ace had more tutorials and scripts than the new engine, so until MV "ages" enough for me, I'm not touching it. I do appreciate your thoughts on the merits of MV, so you may convince me.

Eventually I began designing a game, which I'm still working on. Actual production of the game is put on hold for the moment, though, since I still have school to content with. What I can tell you so far is, it's gonna be a simulation RPG with turn-based combat, item crafting, and NPC socialization. Yes, it's formulaic and cliché, but as I've learned in creative writing, there is no such thing as original work, only stories with well-developed characters, interesting settings, and sensible plots.

Browsing through this site, as well as the official RPG Maker Web and RPG VX Ace forums, has been very helpful to me, and I'm grateful to all the wonderful people who have contributed to RPG Maker. I hope you receive me kindly. Thank you!
