The Screenshot Topic Returns

Oh man, Dragol. I want some of those character sets.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

I don't think it looks bad at all. Especially with the boat shape from, ahem... "Dookie"'s screenshot.

Looking for some resources {rm2k3}

Those Breath of Fire maps were hilariously awful. And people complain about rm2k3 graphics. lol.
And you gotta love Earthbound, but that's a pretty sharp left for my game's palette.
Those Terranigma ones aren't terrible. It felt like a long shot asking because I have scoured the depths of the internet already.
It's definitely a start. Thanks, Liberty. :-D

Looking for some resources {rm2k3}

I've been working on a clan of gypsys and I'm frustrated with the chip sets I've been finding. Aside from just throwing a couple of tents up, I got nothing.
I could probably work with something circusy and edit it, but I don't have anything like that.
Does anyone have any chips or charactersets of caravan type stuff? Camping things, tents, large carts or attractions, even a circus chip or some animals (especially camels)?
I'm not sure what to use because all I can find is that chipset from the Millineal Fair in Chrono Trigger and it's not very good...
Any help would be appreciated. :)

An idea for a new type of magic user (Grey Wizard)

I kinda like that idea. Maybe you could even work it into your character design, like it's one character who has split personality disorder or something.
Being able to switch in battle still seems reasonable though, especially if it costs some MP and a turn to switch.

[2K3] Good Mini Games?

That game was so fun!

Help placing a npc in a Window underneath tiles, like a drive thru or similar

Just copy and edit the characterset so it displays higher, or add whatever window to the characterset and take it off of the map.

Secret of Mana, anybody?

I remember having fun with SoM, but am I alone in liking Secret of Evermore better?

Not at all. I liked Evermore waaay better. But SoM was one of my first games.

How planned-out should your RPG be before you begin?

Having everything planned is great, but when starting a game, I think it's just best to wing it. Make as much as possible. Find out what works and what doesn't. Sure you may have to redo everything, but you'll have a clearer vision and the progress won't be wasted.
Working off of a script in the later stages is highly recommended though. (Especially because you can do spell check on it all at once)

I also agree with this.

If visually seeing the stuff in action is a necessary or helpful part of your design process, maybe your plans won't all get followed (but this doesn't necessarily diminish the value of making them).

I'd say do both. Spontaneous planning. Whatever keeps you passionate and motivated.

Secret of Mana, anybody?

Uck, I'm stuck at Wall Face right now. You have got to hit him in just the right place or it doesn't count.
I like the charge system too, but the ally AI is awful awful and should never be allowed to charge.
I freaking hate how the allys get stuck behind structures and you have to run back for them. So bad...
