I like the traditional Item Shop, Weapon Shop, Armor Shop. Makes it easier to get to exactly what you're looking for faster. However, a shop with over 50 different items to purchase seems a bit overwhelming. Why would a weapon shop need so many weapons (unless it offered every regular weapon in the game, I suppose that would make sense)?

It depends on how often battles pop up.

This. Among other things like:

Random Encounters - These are ANNOYING. Especially if there is no way to tell when they are coming, the encounter rate triggers a battle every 6 steps, and there is no way to avoid it (there are ways to make random encounters less frustrating... Velsarbor comes to mind). If you are trying to complete a puzzle in a dungeon or something like that, I normally end up running a lot. My mind is too wrapped up in completing the problem on the map.

Inferior Enemies - This hopefully doesn't pop up too often. But some games allow your characters to become so overpowered that you won't even want to battle anymore (FF6).

All in all, I don't run from battles too often unless one of these two things happen.

I agree with the dummy hero trick. I'd be easy if you set up a couple of common events correctly.

I can't agree with you more about the cell phone deal, Feld. I Can't stand it when they sit on their phone all day and if you so much as PICK UP yours they want to know who exactly you're talking to (not to mention the attitude they throw at you if you ask the same). Women... or should I say girls these days are more stress than they are worth most of the time.

I really can't stand stupid people, or better yet, my generation of people (18-24 years old). I'm serious... most people in the general public seem to have lost their common sense somewhere in the trash bin at the grocery market! All people care about nowadays are cell phones, alcohol, and myspace. Most people I know give me a weird look when I say I actually read a good book all day. What's this world coming to....?
