It probably doesn't do anything but drinking orange juice when I'm sick makes me feel better.

I drink hot chocolate and hog all the heat coming from the fire place. No, I don't care if it's summer!

Or I just rough it because school will kick my butt for being out.
I had a nasty fever for like 2 weeks when I was in college. The kind that makes you tired, lethargic, burst into coughing fits, etc. During that time, I found Sunny D had a heroine-like placebo effect and drank the fuck out of it so I could maintain regular dorm life.
Funnily enough, as soon as I was over the flu, Sunny D suddenly tasted disgusting.

Hot chocolate or soup is always good as well! Damn. Now I want some hot chocolate.

Yeah I mostly have to rough it out though, my college has a hella strict absences policy. Fortunately we have no classes on Friday. So I got to lie in bed like a useless blob today :)

I'm gonna have to power through tomorrow, I need to shop and clean and do homework D:

I have never liked the taste of Sunny D but everyone in my family loves it.
Pointing out the obvious but chicken soup really helps.

Obvious but true! I tried to get some from the convenience store nearby today but they were out. I'm going to try again tomorrow.

It doesn't do anything for colds, but I agree, orange juice (my absolute favorite) makes you feel great.
Tea. Tea and soup.

Makes me feel better, at least.

Those actually don't do anything for colds either, but there is an enzyme in chicken soup that thins mucus relieving congestion. That's a symptom though, it does nothing to treat the cold.
Alright, gonna share the Black Gin recipe here so you all can drink it and get better!

- Coke (yes, that coke. Coca Cola coke)
- Ginger
- Lemon
- Garlic

- 3-4 cups of coke in a pot.
- Dice the garlic and ginger. You want one clove of garlic and about the same amount of ginger.
- Slice up a lemon and put it in the pot with the garlic and ginger.
- Let the concoction simmer until it gets nice and hot. You can let it evaporate some of the coke, but don't let it caramalise.
- Put in cup, don't strain out the ginger or garlic pieces, you're going to want them.
- Drink.
- Feel better.
- Now go get some zzzz's.

It tastes of yum and is good for ya.

Also, if you're leaking fluids don't drink anything with milk. That will just make it worse. Instead, get some icy poles (ice lollies? flavoured sticks of ice). They help a lot, especially if you've got a sore throat, since they'll keep you hydrated.

I get sick a lot. >.<;

The garlic and the ginger are awesome for fighting colds. I recommend adding echinacea and goldenseal to that recipe.
It might mess with the taste (which is quite nice).

Oh, and lemon juice is also great help as it's full of vitamins. Honestly, fruit is really good. Fruit, light foods, cold foods, hot foods. XD

Stew is nice when you're sick, but in small doses. Because it's a very hearty and heavy meal, you shouldn't have too much.

Oh! And if you're physically sick may I introduce you to grapes, lettuce and celery. (and more icy poles/flavoured frozen water). I've had a lot of issues with vomiting and sore stomachs and honestly, the best thing for such things is water-heavy foods. They not only trick your body into thinking it's been eating (when you can't stomach food) but the water keeps you hydrated, which you really need if you've been throwing up.
(Also, lettuce sandwiches with just a hint of sweet chilli sauce is a wonderful, wonderful thing when your stomach settles a bit more. Make sure the sweet chilli is very mild, though.)

I have many such tips.

...I get sick too often. >.<;

Oh wow I didn't know that. Trust me, symptom relief would be very welcome right now.

And oh wow Liberty those are all super helpful tips! Thank you!
When I first saw Black Gin I thought it was an alcoholic drink and I was very confused. Quickly figured out it stood for ginger.
Yeah, I thought Libby was telling us all to drown our sickness in alcohol at first!

Solid advice from mod Libby: Do the alcohol kids.

For a sore throat, I might recommend that, but Libby's remedy is much better. Also during the day steeping echinacea makes a delicious tea, especially with hibiscus. It's also proven to effectively fight the cold virus, and in 70 percent of cases, when consumed regularly, it is shown to prevent colds. Some scientists speculate that it may lead to a cure for the cold. If you're wondering where to find it, it's a weed that grows everywhere in the US. It has nice blossoms that are also considered ornamental.

If you can't find it, you can always spend money for at Walgreens though I would recommend finding a New Age store that sells herbs.
^Listen to this fellow, he's right about echinacea being good for colds. Personally, I'm not big on the taste (but then I prefer sweeter stuff because I am massive scrub).

Also, if you have trouble sleeping, try chamomile tea. I know that sometimes when you're sick you either want to sleep every moment or cannot sleep a wink. Chamomile, while ugh in taste, is good to make you zzz.

...and I would neeeeeeever recommend alcohol to annnnyone under 18~ (or, you know, the legal drinking limit in your country). And if I did recommend alcohol it'd be Bailey's Irish Cream on ice cream because fuck that is goooood.
