If you hold down shift while placing carpet and autotiles you'll get the center tile. Click on the edges and you'll get only that tile. I highly recommend doing this where carpet meets carpeted stairs. That way it will look like the carpet is one long piece instead of cut-up pieces next to each other.

Sweet, thanks for the tip!

uh the only difference is the width of the shoreline behind the castle, right?

there shouldn't be shoreline for any part of this map really; if snow covers the rest of the ground it's going to be covering the sand too

Actually, the ground is different; for B I used the shift technique.

Also, I'll get right to fixing the shoreline problem.

Second one. More consistent like real worlds are. On the other hand at first look I wasn't sure if there were any difference, it took some time to get it, in other words the difference is negligible enough not worry about it. By the way, hope that its just a test map because no offence but the map is quite ugly.

Yeah, it's a test map, I'll probably end up removing the fence and/or igloo.

Which one looks better?

A:

B:

Also, the igloo is meant to be a sort of inn or something of that nature (Haven't quite decided yet), and I was wondering whether or not I should keep it? If so, should I keep it fenced? (Probably not, but somebody actually liked it for some reason...)

Because the chrono trigger characters were much larger than VX sprites, it makes this room look about twice as big as the SNES version.

Other than that, any faults can probably be forgiven on account of the fact that it at least looks better than the original.

However, you should use a black background around the edges of the room like CT did, not the weird stone floor tile you appear to be using.

Thanks for the suggestion! Now then, I have a lot of mapping to work on this week...

Just a thought : If you're going to make a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger, why don't you use original Chrono Trigger graphics? It'll look a thousand times better than RTP ever could. You'll also be able to cash in on nostalgia value among your potential subscriber-base.
Before you mention it, resolution isn't an issue. Just double everything's size.

Meh, I just feel that using the SNES game's graphics has been overdone, and would like to do something a little different. Plus, maybe it's just me, but when the CT sheets are converted to VX with only 3 walking frames per side, it looks a little... weird.
