Thanks for the comments NTC3. My personal thought on this (I didn't write the blog post) is that it's nice to have a familiar structure on which to find creativity. I've always enjoyed seeing new angles to common tropes. Rest assured that we are working on updating some game play elements for the tastes of the modern gamer, however I strongly dislike when people abandon everything that made the genre great or apologize for the features they have. You end up with a project that has no integrity and doesn't appeal to the niche fans while failing to reach a new audience because they can see that you're not being sincere.

Lots to think about though.
