If I do, does it have to be true when I say it?

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Please tell me I'm not the only one playing Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines. It's a really solid and addicting dungeon crawler/management game.

[FREE LABOR][VX ACE] Will work on gameplay / writing / music!

EDIT: Thanks for the responses! I have a decent amount of work now, so hold off on requests! You can still post, just know that priority will be lower right now.

Hello! I've been working on my own game projects and find that I can't really get much done by myself, and I'm fed up with not being able to be productive. So, I decided that I would put my half-baked efforts into making other people's games get completed.

I am offering to work with anyone on their own projects if they need more manpower. I need no payment, other than credits! :D

I have more experience in creating gameplay, writing characters/dialogue, and music. I... don't really have much to show for it, though, unfortunately. Except for my Soundcloud; here's some of my better pieces:

Battle Themes

Courage

Desperation and Hope

Just a Talk, No Big Deal

Tearing Apart

Data Rock Beat

General Themes

Law - Overworld

Chaos - Underworld

In general, I fill more of an advisor/slave role, so if that sounds like something you'd want/need, post or send a message! I will be happy to serve you (part-time, anyways)!

Avoiding the self insert

I'm honestly a little confused, but I'll try to answer to the best of my ability.

Projecting yourself onto a project isn't bad, per say. In a loose quote from Rohan Kishibe, the best work is based on reality. Of course, there are definitely exceptions, but touches of real experiences can help guide the game if used right. When I try to work on my secret projects, often times I write my characters based on aspects of my self or those I know. However, usually I take just one personality element and go original to build off it.

So basically, if I express my own real life issues or feelings, I let it be a base for themes/tone/etc. and build upwards, and not simply making a reiteration of real life events or whatnot.

Probably easier said than done for some, I can restrain myself and separate work from life with no problem... ._.

Fun vs. Satisfaction

If a game isn't consistently engaging and latching the player onto the experience, I don't think it'll work out great. You could have the best ending in the world, but it wouldn't work out as well if you lose half your players at the second arc.

Better to have a game that is a enjoyable ride the entire dozen+ hours, rather than a slog that makes you really happy at the last hour. I personally can't beat through the repetition of Bravely Default's latter arc and decided to just watch the rest, unfortunately. Too many other games I need to beat through...

An idea I had for a Pokemon game

Yeah I think you would definitely want trainer battles as a way of raising cash since that's something Pokemon fans are accustomed to doing. Having them do tricks for spectators is also a possibilty. You could also capture specific monsters and assign them to do certain things for the community like capture an Electrode/Magnemite to power a house whose residents can't afford their electrical bill. Also, you could capture a Ryhorn and it could give rides to people who can't afford a car.
Another aspect of the game would be designing your gym, that should be pretty fun I think.
Speaking of which I noticed that in Pokemon the player never pays to get in the gym. Perhaps you only pay a fee if you are a regular member at said gym like the NPCs that battle the player before the gym leader. So part of the game would be about convincing other trainers to get a membership at your place.

Anyway hope that gives you a better picture and we can certainly brainstorm some more on other game play possibilities.

For a start, the assigning of different Mons to do community tasks reminds me of the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha games, in which demons in the game could help perform various tasks such as investigation, lighting up dark areas, reaching hidden places via flight, etc. I suggest if you ever actually make this that you look to that for some inspiration. A good amount of abilities would probably be based on Type. (Electric would be able to power things, Fire can set things ablaze, etc.)

Modern 3D platformers?

I would say Tearaway fits the bill well, though it's for the Vita and not the longest game out there. It definitely has nifty gameplay, though.

I don't know any other 3D platformers out right now.

State Icon appears with another of a key

author=gemmon
yes... i am not using any scripts... i am using an iconset but I am certain that I updated the original icons... for example; poison still uses the purple bubbles icon and i set this up in the state database tab... so when the enemy hit my character in battle, the poison icon showed up in the status ailment area that allows two icons max and one is the poison bubble and the other is an icon of a key....

again, thank you :)

I'm not entirely sure. You could try checking the icon image file and simply edit out the key, though if it's actually drawing two icons it might be a problem when you have other states.

(Also, I assume this is RPG Maker VX Ace...?)

An idea I had for a Pokemon game

The only Pokemon games I ever finished was Blue and Yellow version but I do know a bit about how the series has progressed and months ago when X and Y released I saw that the main character seemed to live in a very wealthy area.
So, I thought maybe they should do a Pokemon game that's the exact opposite where you play a kid who grew up in a ghetto and instead of a goal of beating the elite four his goal is to open up his own gym which could bring tourism and commerce to his neighborhood. The game would basically focus on raising money for the poor through the use of your pokemon.
Let me know if you like or hate the idea.

Now, the idea itself is sound from a story angle, but you'll need to elaborate on gameplay, because I can't really imagine how the game would play out. Would Pokemon have to do tricks to attract spectators, would you go fight random trainers to get money and use that to fund the gym (that's not getting into the possible intricacies of starting a gym in the first place), what would it be?

State Icon appears with another of a key

Okay, so if I read that correctly, there's a key icon next to the poison icon?

Any scripts you're using that may be the cause?
