FELIXFLYWHEEL'S PROFILE

Hi, I compose video game music, make battle animations, assemble tilesets. Lots of sprite ripping and more for RPG Maker 2003, using my 2 handy tools, FL studio, and Photoshop. I'm always learning new things, and getting better at what I do. I work hard to surpass my limits. I am a perfectionist.

If you're interested in seeing the things I do, you can watch my videos on youtube.

If you need resources, here's a link to my photobucket. It has lots of battle animations and such, just for yoo! Please give credit though, if you're going to use them.

Make Battle Animations Easier

Dunno if this is the right place for this... this was denied in the tutorial sections because it wasn't suitable... so I dunno, but yeah, I'll post it here.

Well this is really simple. For those who aren't aware, there are 2 things. If you hold down shift while pressing in a direction/dragging your mouse, you can move all the sprites in 1 frame at once.

Now here's what makes things easier... 1 tool, a screen magnifier! I didn't know I had one, but I just found out that I did. I use Windows 7, so it must of came with it. When I'd make animations, I would have to plant my face in the screen to see what I was doing when working with small sprites, but I don't have to do that anymore. :)

Here's a snapshot of what I mean.

It really just looks like a blown up snapshot, but that's how big things looked on my screen. Being able to see more closely like this really helps with perfecting an animation, and its details.

I really love creating battle animations, so yeah, this makes me really happy. :)
I hope this helps you too!

2 Animations in 1 ?

(SOLVED) Thanks to Cherry!

For RPG Maker 2003-

You know how you're limited to only 25 frames on a battle animation resource sheet? ... I was wondering if it's possible to link multiple animations, like... make 1 animation with 1 sheet, and then another animation with another sheet that's a continued of the previous sheet, and when the first animation has been executed, the 2nd animation would sequence instantly after. Is that possible? Is there a way to do that? There's gotta be a way... there just has to be... v_v

EDIT:

This is a battle animation sheet. See, you can only have 25 frames. Like I said, I want to be able to use more by linking an animation with another of a different sheet.

RPG Maker 2003 Help File Missing???

Every time I click the 'HELP' button in RPG Maker 2003, it can never bring up any help window. It says it can't find it. Is there a help file I can download to put in the rpg maker folder?

EDIT: I realized I have the file in my rpg maker folder, but I just found out it's because I use Windows 7, and it can't read that kind of format. <_<; ... v_v'

RM2k3 - Organize Items?

Is there any way to organize items in the game so they're not forced to be in the same position as they are in the item database list? It would make things so much more easier for me if I could organize them, like how you can in Final Fantasy.

I don't like having to put organize them in the Item list because I'm always thinking of new items, and I like them to be sorted by category.

Attack, Intelligence, Variance?

In RPG Maker 2003, I'm just wondering... what is the formula or whatever it is for the attack influence, intelligence influence, and variance? ... actually, what is variance? I have no idea what that does. I mean I know what attack and intelligence have to do with it, but I'm just wondering how much does it add on to the skill depending on the number you choose?

Say this skill heals 50 HP. if intelligence influence is 1 or 2, how much does it add on, or round up, or multiply, etc?

EDIT: Okay... main question... what does Variance do?

Moving Clouds, etc in RPG Maker 2003?

How do you make clouds and such move across the maps? Much like fogs in XP/VX. I know it has to be simple, but I'm just not getting it. v__v;

Pixel Movement in RPG Maker 2003?

Is pixel movement possible in RPG Maker 2003?

(pixel movement is when you move 1 pixel at a time with each step, instead of a whole 16 pixels.)

I know you can do this in XP and VX, but what about 2k3?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7SotgdE824

This video here has to be an rm2k3 game, and I'm highly certain that they're using pixel movement if you look closely. They're also using 8-way movement (which I would also like to learn, if possible.)

I heard a rumor from someone that it required you to use pictures to do this, and said it was very complicated... Well... if anyone knows, I'd really like to learn. (and 8-way movement if possible.) Thanks!

Walking In Tall Grass Without Multiple Events?

!!! SOLVED !!! ~~~ Thanks to Narcodis for helping me. Here's what you do... (for rpg maker 2003)

ADDITIONAL ADVICE: This is a parallel process event, however, if you set it to call, and have another common event on parallel process which manages all other parallel process common events by calling them within it. It makes things cleaner, and makes it easier on the game's engine. :)

You can also use this to do other things that change your charset. It could turn on switches that causes noise, which would alert monsters to come after you, etc. :) Anything you want! ^O^

-Below is what my problem was, before it was solved-

(i'm using RPG Maker 2003)

Have you noticed in games like Zelda: A Link To The Past, when Link walks in tall grass, it would show grass around the feet of his sprite, and when he stepped off the grass, the grass around his feet would disappear?

I want to be able to have ground tiles set to where you step on them, it automatically triggers your charset to change with grass around your feet, or with water ripples if you're walking in water, etc, and automatically switch back when you step off.

The only other way I have done this was with having a bunch of events all over the grass to turn on the switch which activates the charset change, and then more events around the grass that turns off the switch. It's a lot of events, and I don't like like copying and pasting so many events.

Is there any other way to do this without using so many events?
