Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

Hello again Housekeeping! It's been a while since I last posted and I've been so busy, I haven't really kept track of Jimmy for a while. I look away for a year or two and you go and finish the whole thing and get it featured? Way to go! ^^
So I've just purchased Jimmy and I'm looking forward to giving it a go later. If it's anything like the demo I tried back in the day then I'm sure it'll prove worth every penny! I remember when you said it'd blow AVLRttTotS out of the water, so it's pretty exciting to see it finished.
Thanks for your hard work all these years.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

I guess that's what I get for listening to a bad guy and returning to Giant Garden early, then. That entire part seems skippable, but on the plus side - more for me to explore!

EDIT: I can't believe I missed all that! I think I simply closed the game when I concluded it was a dead end, since I only had it on to check that spot at the time. That way, I didn't even check the exit... awkward. As for what's in there... Let's just say I might be getting a few more levels and consumables before tackling it for real.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

@Malandy: Not that I know of - the area in question currently seems like a dead end, plus it's after the boss, not before.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

I'll give that spot a shot. As for the door, I figured that might be the case, and that's good - it shows that you don't design linearly and that there will be worth in revisiting older areas, even outside the scope of the demo.

EDIT: There doesn't seem to be much there other than some extra enemies and
eye symbols. It feels like it might get expanded later, but it also reminds me of one of the blog post gifs... curiouser and curiouser, haha.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

Hello again, Housekeeping! Months ago we talked about Jimmy briefly, in the AVLRttTotS thread - really happy to see it becoming reality. It just seemed so bizarre (In a good way, mind you!) and likable from the material available up until now, I simply couldn't pass it up.

I've just finished the demo moments ago and I have to say, it did not disappoint. There may not be all that much content just yet, but it showcases the mechanics nicely and gives a good taste of what is to come. I assume the enemy designs only start off lighthearted and cute - from the demo's final scene (and other clues), it seems things are going to get much darker, fast. Keep up the good work, I will definitely be on the lookout for updates.

P.S. Is there currently any way to open the door in the
dark cave / mine in Giant Garden? It made me feel like I need a source of fire to burn the webs, but that may be just conventional RPG habits talking.

A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky

A bit of both, really - their difficulties overlay a bit but the castle both starts and ends easier, so your best bet may be to start both, finish the castle, and then see if you can finish the temple, which... well, you'll see, good luck! ^^
I strongly recommend getting endgame crafted gear before even attempting to finish either dungeon.

As for the puzzle, I think you just follow the cardinal directions on the stone tablet. And if that's wrong, I think the full solution has been posted in this thread before if you want to search for it.

A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky

@lysine

Sorry, I didn't realise Griff has those two separate in his menu...
Well, I had a run through the forest on my NG+ and found 5 chests in the following locations:
Southern edge of the screen just to the west of the swamp.
Eastern edge of the screen just north of that.
Southern edge of the screen just west of the above. (dead end south of the pond)
After that, go to the crossroads with signs and go south, then northeast.
The last one is a bit trickier: signs, south, southeast, south, east

Griff sees 7 chests there, two of which should be the ones under the swamp, but I may have opened a few before.
My guess is chest number two since it's a bit hidden behind trees, but see what you can find - hope this helps.

A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky

I'm pretty sure there's at least one chest in the dragons' mountain, above a rope that you don't use on your way through to the cave - might be easy to miss.

Yep, you'll be coming back. It'll take a while though, so you might want to save-scum until you get the super rare things, like Fire Dragon Skulls, which you'll want for Fierce Demon Helms.

I may be wrong on this one, but aren't said dragons far too high up the tower to reach on the first visit? Definitely worth a bit of farming once you can get there though, along with Unstoppable Beasts' Horns.

A Very Long Rope to the Top of the Sky

I have to agree that the fifth gate can be difficult, and perhaps the most random out of them all because of the patrols. However, with the map you should be able to find a basic path to follow, and then a few alternatives around the various loops if your path is suddenly blocked.
The only real issues are getting sandwiched with no way out, or getting blocked on one of the non-looping sections. Don't stress yourself about a few seconds lost to avoid a fight entirely, even if it means you won't beat the one at the end - once you get that far the first time, it should be easier from that attempt on.
