I've been running into a similar problem too - I've saved right after gaining control and before the first fight, went to reload, and the game crashed on me multiple times on both saves. Also had a text box issue in the first fight that crashed the game - and this was all after downloading and extracting the exe straight outta the file

I'm at a loss to why cuz it wasn't giving me issues on previous builds.

Hmm! Downloading this version now to see if I can figure it out.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, I definitely put a lot of love into it.

I couldn't agree with you more on most points!
Puzzles should definitely be more prevalent, and WILL be in the chapters to follow.
The story will definitely unfold pretty slowly, but I think the overall story will be pretty exciting once revealed!

Just some notes;
1.
There is a "Current Objective" tab in the log book of the menu which should nudge you in the right direction, I don't know if you missed that, or if I just didn't implement it well enough.
2.
The chapter rewards weren't meant to be included in this demo, haha. They were accidentally included in the un-moleboxed version you download along with the beginning of chapter 2 you weren't supposed to see. They will be functional in the full release though. Sorry about that! That's completely my fault!
3.
The enemies disappearing in the turn order list is unfortunately a symptom of the rm2k3 engine. To animate my enemies completely, they have to be kod and then brought back for each attack, lol. It's silly, I know.

Anyway, I don't want to ramble too much.
I hope to address all these issues in the full release. I appreciate the time you took to write this very much!

I haven't heard this one yet. Did you move the exe outside of the folder it came in? This could cause problems with the game trying to auto save (there is an auto save just before the boss), and can also cause issues loading a save file.

i didn't. i just extracted the file and played it from there. i also installed both fonts that are inside the zip file if that helps.

the auto save usually works properly when i played, but there is always that error whenever i tried to load the save. i assumed it because the save doesn't work properly (there isn't anything written in the save file)

That is so odd, definitely not working right.
So let me make sure I got this straight. You extracted the Nihilo "Folder" from the zip file, and you're opening the exe file from within that folder, right?

there seems to be a bug in the demo. i can't load my save and the game crashed when i reached the first battle. here's the error that i got:
Access violation in module 'Nihilo - Definitive Demo v1.0.2_11-01-2021.exe' in with address 004CA00C and offset 1419FCD8 of type Read occured.

the game looks good so far. the 8-direction movement feels unnatural though.
