Three Cheers for the Strawman Review
I agree that the randomness in battles is off-putting. I never felt it made any battle into a draw of the luck, but it clashed with what was going on quite a bit.
I found the story really poignant! And I don't find much fault with its length either - it had a very tight focus which I appreciated.
I may have to review this game as well sometime! (Actually, I was planning to already, but you beat me to it!)

I especially liked your suggestion to be able to preview what battle you will be entering into beforehand, explaining some things better, and your comments on exploring. It's interesting how much feedback this project has gotten in general which is simply fantastic!

Yay! Thanks for the review~ I'll try to use this and your video to fix the game up some. Currently, it lacks a lot of balancing mainly because I hadn't accounted for players fighting difficult battles before knowing what they're doing. I'm also not used to doing attrition based games, so most of the battles are designed with a fully healed - battle-savvy player in mind rather than the possibly battle-weary new player.
To be fair though, switching classes both activates certain items automatically as well as attacks the enemy. I will look into "Never Fallen"! However, if class-changing is instant in that game, I may pass on that bit of advice since I feel instant class-changing may be a bit much? The waste of a turn is a part of the decision the player has to make, and when you have more people, it'll evolve into "how many characters do I change into their magic class/how many can I afford to switch?" etc. I also think a tutorial is in order, and will implement one in future versions.
The battle system was a bit glitched unfortunately. I knocked myself when I saw you making an informed decision and getting no pay-off for it. Specifically, you hit a bee, realized physical attacks weren't helping, switched to a class with magi elemental attack, and then still got nothing despite the fact that you should've done damage. That moment alone was worth a thousand words, and led me to discover other little oversights.

Oh~<3 I'm really glad you liked RTP so much! This was a first game which I think shone through. My guess as to why you you didn't think it quite deserved a 5 is that it honestly falls short in most areas by juuust a little. The only thing I think is really exceptional are the graphics and the dialogue. The overall story could use a bit more I feel so I'm probably going to fix it up when I get the time. I also think most battles could have been balance better.
Either way, I'm really glad you had fun since that's what it's there for.
