Thanks! I looked at my favorite world maps for that inspiration, like Hero's Realm, Dragon Warrior, and Ultima. Using 2k3 mountains as hills then 2k mountains as proper mountains but recolored so they stand out as distinctly unpassable was something I noticed from Hero's Realm and recreated. Good use of RTP assets!
If it was Ace I might've made the hills also slow walking too, for maximum DW1 vibes.

Thanks for the review! It's been a while so I don't remember most of the game dev cycle or design decisions so I can't elucidate too much on it. I think the Candy/Cherry mistake was entirely my fault. I don't know how I got Cherry into my head when Luishui named her Candy, but I kept putting this false name all over the place.

Heck yeah! I like the darkness as part of the atmosphere of some dungeons. I also have multiple levels of darkness, inspired by Dragon Warrior 1. No light sources = minimal light, a torch gives small light, and magic can give even more light!
It's an old mechanic from DW1 and Ultima, but I like it as a vibes of some dungeons. Makes it feel a bit more hostile that you need some extra prep to handle them. But also not too dark or a hassle that it becomes unfun hopefully.
