^ I like this post! :D
No, not really. I'd rather have it clean and simple without useless number systems in place.

but if we do we can get all giggity over 'karma' and 'points' and whore ourselves out for likes similar to imgur and reddit!!
Eh, there's already makerscore to fill that vacuum.

Makerscore is not equal to "like posts"! You don't get makerscore for posting something interesting on the forum!

But anyway, yeah, I think there's a history behind the reason why "like posts" are sort of not favored on this site.
I know how it works. Just saying that makerscore is the only points-system needed.

I'm guessing the hypothetical likes wouldn't do more than show how many people liked a post anyway. Sites that use them usually boost notability for a while, similar to how buzzing games, etc already work here.
And the forum is the forum. I'm just fine with how forums usually work.

Post liking systems on a forum tend to be shit.

I feel like I have touched a delicate matter. Have a flower.

I've always thought of post liking as a fun extra. I didn't know it mattered that much.
It's alright happy, I don't think people are being big and intimaditing about it. I for one wouldn't be crying over it, but I prefer it the way it is.
It's just a preference, and many people here are happy the way things are. Which is why it wasn't implemented yet but the save feature instead to have something to remember cool posts by.

i've always wanted it but i don't think it's a good use of kentona and ankylo's time unless there's literally nothing else to work on

I'd rather just say/type that I like something. Gives me post count+

I like the post kentona showed.
Adding a "like" system would probably cause a lot of users to skim threads and only read the highest-rated posts.

I can aim for your spot... >_>

I'd be happy being top 5

Ratty is on the radar too, but damn do I have a long ways to go to get close to either of you guys. Stop posting please
We also really need to trademark "RPG"...
I like it as it is here on RMN. Nice and simple. I also kind of dislike the like mechanic when it comes to forums, since it usually replaces/removes a lot of potential discussion.
You know, it'd be cool if we had a like option that only, like, didn't count points or anything just did something like colour the window a pretty shade for that post or put a little flower icon in the left corner or something. No numbers, nothing more than a little icon saying "hey, someone liked this post". And of course, not being able to like your own posts (and having to be logged in to even use the like option. Maybe even have it tie in to a certain amount of MS so that people don't just make new accounts - not that they should since it does nothing more than make the post look a little prettier).

That's the only kind of like option that I think would be cool.

I can't help it! ;.;
I've tried stopping. This place is like crack. I was away for a week and a half and I was still at the top of that fucking list. ;.;
