An old experienced game maker, I've been around making games since the original Verge, moving on to Verge 2 and ika. While not as active these days, my ultimate goal is still to finish Mannux, my Metroid style platformer. I do still have a few new tricks up my sleeve...

That depends on how well I can wrangle ika's canvas to work with light sources the way I intend, but if I can I absolutely plan for shots and explosions to light the way!

I plan on all weapons being used in some way to open up areas. Charging up things like the Wave Beam in Metroid Prime has been considered, yes.

Preview of one of the new maps. Yes, exccessive layers are excessive. But can sometimes make for interesting maps!

Not dead yet! Been playing around with making controls configurable. Very basic menu right now, prettiness comes later. But this already displays the current assigned keyboard and gamepad control for each action. More actions can easily be added, such as the menu key and weapon switching. And is this a new Dash ability I see..?

The physics are going to get tweaked eventually. Also, that's what having an automap is for. Also, isn't getting lost part of the Metroid style gameplay experience? ;)
