Forgotten Wishes Review

Well, thanks for the review, TooManyToasters!

After seeing this review, I believe my game had the intended effect on you, at least.

I feel I've really succeeded when I see you mention how well I pulled off the battle gameplay. I'm glad you liked it and I bet many others feel the same way. I put a lot of effort in making it as good, balanced and strategic as possible! I'll try to expand on the game's open-endedness (as in being able to do more) as well.

I didn't focus in storyline very much, but I'm planning to do so in the next release. I'll certainly have to flesh out the story way more in the first chapter, and I've been making it much more influential in the game starting from chapter 2, as well.

Perhaps the originality issue most likely won't be solved easily, as most scripts and game strategies are easily already taken and used by other games... I'll try to event out more.

Thanks again for your review, it's very good feedback!

Well, you did include "Copy-Pasta" in your review title.

Thank you very much for the review, Fallen-Griever.

I'm really glad you liked the gameplay, which I did intend to be the main focus of the game. I'm amazed aswell because you didn't criticize the usage of the default battle system (most people seem to hate it).

As for the story and characters, the average rating was to be expected; I admit I'm not that good of a storywriter but I'll do my best to deliver a much more interesting and gripping storyline from the beginning in the next update of my game. I'll try to cover all of the issues you pointed out, too.

As for the graphics, there isn't much variety in VX when it comes to this. Most resources available are pretty much in the same style as the RTP but that's how it is. Sadly, my skills in the graphical department are bad, so I'd have a really hard time trying to work out custom graphics in a different style - it's usually difficult to make them be suitable for a maker such as VX, too.

Concerning music, I did use a few XP RTP tunes, but most of them are tunes from different games. It's good that you liked them; I did take a good time to inquire and handpick each of the tunes for each area.

I personally think that coding is very difficult to achieve in comparison to making event systems. You must consider the fact that it takes a very long time to learn Ruby, and most things you want to achieve are already available as scripts on the net. When there isn't a script that does something that I need, I try to do it via eventing - I promise I'll include more event systems of my own in future releases. Concerning scripts in VX, I believe the most important thing is how you implement them in your game. I'm sorry if my game and all its featured scripts made you feel that way you did, but there's almost nothing I can do about it.

Well, I've nothing else to say. Coming from you, I know this isn't a bad review at all. Thanks again for your review, it will most certainly prove helpful as feedback for me to work and improve my game! :)
