Is anything ever really difussed though? Maybe for a few pages but it's the topic that's the breeding ground for shit to get kicked back up again and easily mind you. It doesn't even take long.
I'd rather see it closed or if had the option just ignore it.

EDIT: I could've done better.
EDIT #2: Got one. You're like a jellyfish; you've got a sting, I'll give you that, but everyone can see right through you and you're useless out of your element.
I'll admit I brought this on myself. I still stand by my original point, however, that absolutely no steps were taken pre-lock to defuse the situation, despite the overwhelming presence of authority whose actions - deliberate or otherwise and which at times teetered on the personal* instead of sticking to any actual debate - fueled the flame. That's demonstrably true.
*Which also seemed to go unanswered due to the insular nature of demonizing a "habitual troublemaker", and I'm defending harmonic's not-completely-unfounded accusations of a prevalent us vs. them mentality when I say this.

Well, Corf, congrats for managing to successfully hook someone with that image. Here's a warn as your prize.
I'm not going to speak for anyone else regarding behavior in that thread, only to reiterate what has been said many times around the forums: Mods are members, too. We can participate in threads if we want to. That's how it has always been, and I doubt it's going to change anytime soon. No, no mod was deliberately egging anyone on in that thread to force a thread lock.
...That being said, I understand why some people would feel the way they do about mods in topics like those. For what it's worth to anyone, I plan on staying away from discussing topics related to politics, religion, etc. if it has nothing to do with gam mak. I had already chosen to do that after seeing the results of the survey, but I guess now I'll just say it outright.
If this makes even one person more willing to report posts they think are going too far, I'll call this a success. Seriously, you would be surprised at how few reports we actually got from that thread.
Also, the ignore topics idea seems like a neat one! I'm in full support of it.

Blocking whole swathes of the forum? Nobody is even remotely suggesting that. It would be a user controlled function for people who don't want to see it or even have the option to engage in it after figuring out for themselves that it wwouldn't be productive.
Like, what exactly is the harm in having a feature like that? It would literally make no difference to you.
edit: Maybe people are discussing something like that, just catching up on it all atm. But still, I think it's a vast minority who actually take favor in arguing, not discussing but arguing about their opinion.

CorfaisusCorfaisusIt'd be like cops egging people into elevating the situation just for a cheap arrest. Tell me we're not that corrupt.
To be honest, when you've got mods picking fights with regulars instead of upholding the law, it's bound to go south. I'm surprised it was allowed to get as out of hand as it did.
it's a rpg maker forum, not a public seminar. the general rule is "don't be an asshole" and it's kinda enforced by volunteers. if you don't like it, buh-bai. again.

It shouldn't have had to come to that.
Once again:

And the fact that this came tumbling down the pipes:

Every thread deserves a second chance. This one had a hundred.
Tells me that no one had any desire to cut it out. The last time anyone with even a drop of authority had anything to say about it, it was Liberty telling people not to use image macros on page 38.
Image macros on page 38.
Not behavioral problems the likes of which ruin communities every day, but image macros. And now we've got silly suggestions like blocking whole swathes of the forum instead of having actual conversations and addressing actual problems.

I'm slightly confused, is this to do with What I'm Thinking? Trump Thread? New Thread?
This. Because making waifus fight each other to death is pointlessly cruel. ;-;

It was the Trump Thread, Red Nova nuked it. :)

Anime Mafias.
Exactly. It's crazy how fast a mood can shift and I'd much rather just get along with people I'm close to!
author=InfectionFilesPolitical talk is super draining... I feel you. I know a lot of the time I straight out refuse to share my views with some people because, well, it's not very conducive to getting along, you know? Which is all I really want ;w; (Also being in a polictical minority sucks. You feel like you have no voice at all which isn't true in a lot of cases, but still a hard feeling to shake.)author=CrazeI can handle religious people more than political people and that's saying something.InfectionFilesjust like how politics is trying to keep the religious families out of it, eyyyyyyyyy
I know I'm in the minority and it is painful to see people I once respected go downhill in my eyes because of such a thread.
It's like family, keep politics and religion out of it and it's most of the time pretty stable.
That'd be awesome, Thank you Liberty. :)
