Do you have a favorite game that you made and like to play from time to time?

I know most people don't play their own games a lot aside from testing. Or at least that's what I've seen. Prove me wrong on this one if you can.

But the question is do you have a favorite amongst your games that you actually go and play to have fun?

Mine would be Dystopian Zombies! since it's basically what I started using rpgmaker for. Something to just go into and have some fun with. My other games I don't really go and play in some downtime or even for nostalgia.

Of course this could stem from some of the extensive testing I did for more story/world building games.

But hey, what's your thoughts RMN?!
Do unfinished games qualify?

From time to time I play Wizard apprentice Lya tech demo to have fun taking down all skeletons on the test map and see if I can get the "You are a dodging master!" message for not taking a single hit.

I also start MinST to face a good strategy challenge. The game has a build-in map editor so I create a map and play it. I like to push the difficulty and often end-up building and playing unbeatable maps.
Even though Soma Spirits was by far a bigger undertaking for me, I honestly have an easier time going back to Brave Hero Yuusha. Not only is Yuusha less cutscene-heavy, but there's a lot less in that game I look at and say "Huh, I wish I did that better" and it's a lot more fun for me to sit down and play.
I do enjoy my Three Ghostly Roses replays, but there's something about it that makes me exhausted and feel like I can do better. Cope Island IGMC version is a nightmare for me to play again.

Honestly, I can see my recent 2017 IGMC (Mownt: For Peace) being fun for me to replay (I already replayed it a couple times and enjoyed it a bunch). There's something about it being small and not so mentally exhausting to make that makes it funner for me. Amort was always fun for me to replay as well, as that was pure nonsense made with fellow game devs and I dont care about it not being perfect.

For me it probably is Project1 because it's my favourite game of mine and it encourages me that I can do one thing I've really been wanting to do for a long time now - tell a good story. If I can make a metagame that grips me, surely I can make a good storygame, right? So yeah, that's my answer. This is an interesting question and I very much enjoyed the responses thus far.

I agree! I actually expected more "I don't play my own games" tbh and instead some nice insight :D

A common consensus so far is that the games we had fun making are the ones we like to go back to more often.

@Irog- Of course!

You'd think MZ would use a dictionary for switches/variables by now?

Edit: Did not notice the title, kek.

Well, I'd play TSD again in December.

I'm gonna be that guy, and say that I don't really play my own stuff, outside of playtesting. However, if I did play my own stuff, and it could only be one game, there is only one option.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I've probably spent more hours playing the Unofficial Squaresoft MUD than I have any other video game except World of Warcraft, even if you don't count playtesting. It's an online game, and I was a player for six years before I joined the development team, but I also kept playing it after that, hiding the identity of some of my player characters.

A few months ago I made a randomizer option for it to shuffle all the jobs and abilities and travel options around, and I honestly just can't stop playing that.

The single player RPGs, not so much. I get enough of them from the hundred playthroughs I do while testing.

Love the new background!

I don't have so many games to choose from and most of them are trash. I usually play Mace Blue: Arena when I bump into it somewhere on my harddrive, tho. The game's about two minutes total and not broken, so It's a good memory.
