literally EVERY MV game submitted to this site has overblown screenshots and i've given hope. maybe we should implement an auto-resizer?

You'd think MZ would use a dictionary for switches/variables by now?

Not just an automatic thumbnailer for screenshots, but also a full overhaul of the site. If the screenshots won't kill your data, anyone else's CSS will.
that's... kinda expensive though, I don't think RMN has the resources for that :(

the auto-thumbnailer even might be expensive... i guess a warning like HEY!!!
DON'T BE A DUMMY!!!
PLEASE!!!
DON'T UPLOAD SCREENSHOTS BIGGER THAN 800X600 UNLESS YOU *REALLY* HAVE A REASON TO!!!
in the screenshot submission page could work
Yeah, that's a pretty minor change, but it's something I could definitely get behind.
I'm already downsizing my screenshots from 3840 × 2160, what do you want from me? :P
I'm just here to say my gamepage is an exception, since you said "literally every" :(

The exaggeration is noted though I've made zero games in MV to post screenshots for.

Though, I don't know about a site-side auto resizer for larger images. I don't pretend to know either how intensive that would be either, and I don't know how big an image has to be before Liberty would consider pointing it out in the denial notice.

Even then, I think there might need to be at least one other item that would trigger a denial to the game to have a denial notice. If it's just a big image, the game might be let through with a notice of "Hey, you might want to cut the size of those down so that people can see them without scrolling?"

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

Given that the forum has a fixed width (at least on desktop) I'd say there should probably be at least a limit to however wide the active post area is.

Like, I'd personally appreciate something automatically limiting image size, since I occasionally forget to resize images and then have to go back and resize and reupload stuff and that's annoying.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The fact that the site's image gallery interface sucks isn't a good enough reason to make your screenshots lower quality. Honestly if someone isn't posting their screenshots at the game's actual resolution, the game should probably be denied for the developer being an idiot who doesn't understand how advertising works, and should definitely be denied for misleading players.
I don't think RMN was built with the idea that there would be an RPG Maker one day where games can be like 5000 pixels wide.

Not on a site like RMN. making people scroll to see the whole screenshot simply leaves out the extremely important element that is the composition of your screenshot. it has everything to do with readability. you can't assess how information is layouted in a screenshot that needs to be scrolled. you're making the reader have a headache because you want the player to see extra pixels. These extra pixels are harming the way the recipient is reading the content you're delivering, formatting is very important.

Also the way you just make affirmations and frame them as absolute and irrefutable is quite aggravating, though I've learnt to ignore it from years of being around here.

and yeah absolutely lol, i don't think an auto resizer is a feasible option either but i think at least a static, non-conditional warning on the screenshot submission page providing the maximum resolution your screenshot should be to be clear is a good idea.

ALSO I NEED TO CHECK CALUNIO'S GAME stuff is happening and i'm literally afloat

I think that implementation of an automatic thumbnailer wouldn't be such a pain. The site has the function built-in. It would make tiny 2k screenshots visible and gargantuan MV ones prettier.

Edit: Tbh most of these 4k screenshots are upscaled for the resolution.

Sounds goods to me. Though, that doesn't change the fact that a high-res images are also causing longer loading times. Unless of course it generates a new temporary file as thumbnail and then showing the actual file when the user prompts too.

Plus, I do want to add that if that's ever the case, like say high-res images, WebP image conversion makes those files easier to load (compare a 5 MB png and its 700kb WebP counterpart; without any quality loses with transparecy still there). The site still has a lot to improve on, but it's expected knowing that some aren't expressing any issues of it (which is... kind of a lot, actually. I'd make an article if I have too).
I tend to deny any game page that forces you to scroll more than 1/2 of the scroll bar with an image. With larger resolution games it's a bit hard to get away from larger images.

Honestly, I would love a feature that allows you to have pop-out larger images or auto-shrinks. It's something that is slated for the next update, whenever that happens, so it's not like we don't know it's a problem.
