JPARKER1984'S PROFILE

Hello all, my real name is Jeromy. I'm a video game fan in general, but the way that RPG's make you feel sucked in to an alternate world easily make it my favorite genre (given that the story don't suck.) Aside from that I'm a father and a husband and I work my butt of to take care of my family. I love gaming, but family will always come before anything.

My favorite game... wow, that's a tough one. I'll just list a handful that I really enjoyed in no particular order. Only a handful though, there isn't enough space to list them all.

Disgaea 3 (PS3)
Final Fantasy 5 (SNES, PSX & GBA)
Final Fantasy 7 (PSX)
Dual Orb (SNES)
Breath of Fire 3 (PS & PSP)
Bahamut Lagoon (SNES)
Magic Knight Ray Earth (SNES & SATURN)
Everlong (RM2K3)
Enchanted Arms (PS3 & XBOX 360)
Jade Cocoon (PSX)

Oh my gosh, can SOMEONE help me remember an old RM2K game? This is driving me crazy!

Ok so the game in question is quite old, it's an RM2K game. What I do know is, it has the word "Dragon" in the title, can't recall if it was the 1st or 2nd word, but yeah. I also know it was really popular and I recall it being made by an (at the time) prominent creator. If I saw a screenshot, I'd likely remember it. I know that's not much to go on, but that's all I got. Thanks in advance!

Oh and as wonderful as "Dragon Fantasy" is, it's not that.

[Poll] What's the most annoying status effect in Final Fantasy history? (of the ones listed here)

As to where I don't think Poison is the pick here, it's is indeed annoying. Not saying you folks, but a lot of people underestimate the power of poison. Of course it depends on the fight itself, but when an already tough boss has poison.... it's terrible.

Especially if your in a party with less then adequate healers.

[Poll] What's the most annoying status effect in Final Fantasy history? (of the ones listed here)

In any Final Fantasy, or RPG for that matter. Negative status effects are a way or life for better or for worse. With that said, of the options listed below, what do you think is the worst/most annoying?

Keep in mind, the options listed here are from my mind. I understand that some may find others that aren't listed here more annoying and that's ok.

RPG Maker MV - I need suggestion on how to do a skill/magic.

So, I want to design a skill that will revive an ally, BUT.... would kill the user. So a sacrifice if you will, so how exactly would I do this? Thanks in advance.

Key words there being "a bit."

You are hard to please. It's not generic.

1.5 years of development, lots of budget, use collective party-wide TP instead of MP, kidnapped bride who completely turns that trope on its head in a massive way later on, extremely robust forge/salvage and augment systems, fully animated battlers, fucking stunning in battle pixel art, relying on physical formation in battle - mixing tactical with JRPG, heal after battle, no random encounters and ability to get preemptive attack/surprised attacked based on map encounters, respec skill points any time, retry battle with opportunity to respec, repeatable missions with scaling enemies, AOE attacks with various area patterns in battle, etc, etc, etc. Show me a more feature-rich RM game?

Generic? Maybe Lucian's design. But the game doesn't even take him seriously. He's joked about as being hero guy and not very bright in the game itself. He's not even the protagonist - he's the facilitator. Ingrid is "the player" along for the ride. The true protagonist is the kidnapped bride.

Generic.
yikes! god forbid you ever face firmer criticism than that

Yea, yikes indeed. Your game to me looks nice, I'd for sure play it, but that criticism was mild. Different people like different things, my advice to you is don't let something so mild bother you that much.

RPG Maker MV - I'm seeking a person or two for private testing of my game before I release a public demo.

I looked at this some time ago, and wondered why you didn't make this a request blog. Then, I noticed that the gamepage in question had zero subscribers at the time (it still does ;_;), so that makes a thread like this more understandable to me.

However, a demo that takes about 12 hours might be a tough pill to swallow. How much of the game does this demo represent? That's kinda my main gripe, to be honest. Also, from what I can see, your profile lists community games, with this game being your only solo project. So, there's a sense of unknown here that might cause people to think twice.

I might be willing to do an exchange? You look over my current project (it might take about an hour?), and I look over this project. What do you think?

*Edit: For what it's worth, there's a ton of dialog in the game I'm putting forward. There's a non-zero possibility that I screwed up somewhere in spelling, maybe grammar. Some errors have been brought to my attention that has been fixed on my local machine, but haven't been applied to the download yet.

I see what you mean.... 12 hours isn't short, but I think I can do that (trade testing.) To be honest, I didn't feel right putting the "DEMO" label on my game with it being 12 ish hours, but it's not finished so I wasn't sure how to word it.

Yea, I've been meaning to update the game page with new or replacement screenshots. A ton has changed since I made that page.

But yeah, my next day off from work is tomorrow (thurs) so I'll test yours out then if that's ok with you.

No bites? I would have expected at least a reply by now. 63 views and no reply, sad day for me lol.

RPG Maker MV - I'm seeking a person or two for private testing of my game before I release a public demo.

As the title says, I need a private tester or two (maybe 3 lol.) In the past I would be to quick to just upload a game just to get it out there. Only to have to make updates soon after, sometimes many. This time I'd like to be smarter about it, because for whatever reason this game is further along by a long shot, then any game I've worked on for the last several years. I just feel something really strong about this one.

So I'm not looking for a review at this point, just a bug tester and opinion seeker for lack of better terms. Here's some basic info on my game if anyone happens to be interested in helping me out.

1. it's called "Fatal Fantasy As Fate May Have It." As the name suggests, it's heavily inspired by the Final Fantasy series, as well as the likes of Dragon Quest and other JRPGs of SNES era.

2. Currently the rough estimate of playtime sits around 12 ish hours, depending on grinding and doing everything there's to do. I got through what I have so far in 9 hours and 46 min and I was using CTRL to avoid most battles.

3. It's really story heavy, there's a ton of dialog and cutscenes. You won't find any (purposeful) spelling errors, BUT you will find minor grammar errors such as the wrong (Ok or Okay.)

If anyone is interested, let me know either way and I'll give you more details. Have a good day everyone.

It may be just me, but I think RPG Maker Unite looks ugly!

only 2k3 is good everything else is cringe

Ah, that takes me back.... my old love RM2K3. That engine is the engine I've used the most since making games. I started with RM2K, then switched to RM2K3 when it came out. I skipped XP & VX (though I did tinker around a LITTLE BIT with XP at one point.) I didn't move on to a new engine until RMVX Ace came out. Now, I'm currently using MV.

I don't have much of an opinion on how it looks but the timing of releasing a Unity-based RPG Maker amid multiple Unity controversies is rather unfortunate.

You know what, that's a great point. So in your opinion, do you think its a distraction on purpose, or a case of bad timing?
