If this is where sugarcane comes from candy must be very expensive.

I don't even want to imagine how expensive Death Flower Rum is.

This is great!

Ah, shoot. So it would seem as though there is a way to get into the market courtyard at night if you're very careful. I've fixed it, but I don't think I'll be releasing a patch for this alone. If I do release another patch this will definitely be fixed, so thank you for sharing it with me!

Onix Rift video 04 commentary.

New item animation looks really good, and the speed is nice and smooth. Really improves the flow. I think it'll encourage item use, too.. I also like the new conditional damage animation idea. I think 1/3rd might be a bit better for the big "downed animation", since that seems like a huge enough hit. Half your HP in one hit is pretty much... you're gonna die now, haha. The other thing is (not sure how hard this would be) it might be cool to see the item icon inside the little bubble of the item jump. So it looks like he throws the item above his head and we see it. It's just aesthetic, but it would be cool if it's too much work.

The flash for the animation looks good, but you might want to tone it down for people who have trouble with flashing lights for whatever reason. I try to keep flashes well below max power whenever I can, just in case.

Boss camera looks great, transitions really smoothly, it's one of those things that I think players won't notice at first but they'll just appreciate that it feels right.

I sucked too bad to make it to the eagle when I played, but that scene of climbing the cliff and the cave fades into the exterior is cool as hell, sad I missed it. You spelled mirage wrong for the boss skill, though, heh. I think if you implemented a bonus to LP gain when you get hit from Gale might be a good idea and would help synergize with his new weakness. Sort of a "shitty that I got hit by a skill, but good that lets me retaliate". Also helps item hoarders get the hint that they're supposed to spam limit breaks/special skills.

Overall a cool update, new sprite art is definitely looking better and better each time. Still really pushing RM2k3 into a new dimension of gameplay, can't wait to see what's next.

Stay safe out there.

p.s. Moonsong has barrels with items in them... just sayin' maybe it was that you were playing. ;D

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it! Were you able to walk in there during the sneaking section, or did you use ctrl+walk (gotta be careful with ctrl+walk, there are a lot of hidden triggers)?

I thought I blocked off all access to the market square during the night, so if I missed a tile, please let me know!

Really like this. Good aesthetic, very cool stained glass.

I'm about to download this 41 times to get you the 1000 you deserve.

I'm somehow at 970 (as of this message) so your hard work is paying off!

By the way kaempfer, in moonsong you absolutely NAILEd the atmosphere you were going for. The old inhabited country side riddled with ruins. I feel like Everytime I attempt something similar I get a cluttered look. I'm truly envious of some of those maps my man. Nothing clashes and every map, 100x100 or 10x10, all looked like they got the same attention. That struck me most so far that I've played.

I appreciate that! One big thing I'm always careful about is making sure graphics, no matter their source, match up and work together. I've even had people assume my from-scratch stuff was just another rip, which is high praise. Moonsong was in development for a long time, so a lot of those maps had a lot of revision. Some of the earlier maps were 100x100 maps pared down to 50x50 or even smaller, and so I got to pick and choose the best stuff.

Hmm, I'll have to look into this 2009 business. I know that when I opened up Onix Rift a bunch of the vines in the cliffs just didn't show up in the default tileset (one direction of vines did, but the other direction didn't), which is what made me think it could use larger sizes of tilesets. It's a shame there isn't a version that combines all the best parts of the various releases of RM2k3, since they all have something they do better.

Damn, dude. You've mastered RM2k3 more thoroughly in a few months than I have in a few years. I struggle with simple puzzle eventing sometimes!

I've noticed that some of your maps contain more tiles than my copy of RM2k3 supports, is that a feature of 2k9?

I've been playing around with resizing graphics from RMXP and RMVX recently, there are some on display in Moonsong. They take some fixing up to get working, but overall it's not too much work and the outcome can look really solid.

Seeing some of your process makes me want to point out one thing about Paint.net, which is that you can't paste with the background colour transparent. That's the only thing I miss from MS Paint. In paint.net you have to use layers. It's way more flexible, but honestly I preferred how fast it was in MS Paint. But that's the only thing I miss, haha

"All my games MUST include ruins"

A developer after my own heart <3

Great mapping.

Ruins are mandatory.

And thank you! It's weird looking at this map now and seeing all the things I'd change (this area was actually made in the early 2010s, I'd guess) but overall I still really dig the ~vibe~ of this area.
