Yahoo hacked, 450k+ user account credentials leaked

Just a heads up that Yahoo's apparently been the victim of hacking and that login credentials for some 453,000 accounts have been leaked. If you have a Yahoo account it's probably a good idea to change your passwords!

Privacy concerns with Linksys router firmware

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9228687/Linksys_firmware_upgrade_for_Wi_Fi_routers_angers_some_users

At first I thought this was just an automatic update for some router firmware handled badly, but apparently there's more to be concerned with as this quote from the article above shows:

Another concern raised in user comments came from Cisco's privacy policy for the Cisco Connect Cloud. "When you use the Service, we may keep track of certain information related to your use of the service," the policy said. Among other things, that data may include how much traffic is going through the router every hour; that information includes the Internet history from the home network, the policy said.

In the policy, Cisco said it "may share aggregated or anonymous user experience information with service providers contractors or other third parties," but that the data would not personally identify the user in any way.

I'm sure some of us are using routers (possibly Linksys routers) for home networking, so I thought it best this issue be brought to attention in case anyone's using (or planning on using) Linksys hardware.

North Korea fires artillery on South Korea

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11818005

Giving a heads up as I'm sure many people will find this latest turn of events to be of interest.

A full explanation's at the link, but to cut to the chase: North Korea fired artillery shells at South Korea, South Korea retaliated in self-defense with its own artillery bombardment.

RPG Maker 95 Engine Page + Category

So we were in IRC as usual tonight, and one topic went to another until an idea came up: Why do we not have RPG Maker 95, aka RM95, as a recognized game engine?

We have everything from RM2K to RMVX, and even IG Maker (which incidentally has no submissions) as recognized game engines, so there is no reason to make the circle not complete by not including RM95 which started what is the English RM community. If not for anything else, an honorary recognition would be appropriate since it is even the namesake of this very website.

First ever Windows-based RPG Maker program released by ASCII in 1997.

Description:
RPG Maker 95 is a tile-based point and click engine tailored towards creating SNES-era-like RPGs and was the first to be released in the long-running series of RPG Maker programs for the Windows operating system.

RPG Maker 95 runs in 640x480 resolution with 32x32 pixel tiles and 32x32 sprites using the .BMP image file format limited to a 256 color palette. The default battle system is a frontview system reminiscent of early Dragon Quest games, with invisible player characters and static monster sprites. The engine uses the MIDI file format for music and WAV format for sound effects.
