I have to agree actually-

Welp, even though this game is kind of typical yandere since it's just meant to be a short, creepypasta-esque one, but I shy away from these types in my longer games where I actually bother to develop a proper backstory.

One thing I find pretty cool is to see the difference between a classic Yandere and a modern one - a classic one would be one who is originally sweet and is pushed to extremes and becomes crazy, while a modern one is the kind who alternates between sweet and crazy. Interesting to see how these kinds of stereotypes develop.
Aah--honestly I think Mariko looked more like a modern yandere than Shinku did. Maybe Darian was dating two yanderes at the same time? ;)

I actually liked Shinku's character. If you ever do a remake (or a prequel) of this game you should consider making it longer with some sort of explanation as to why Shinku is why she is. I'd totally play that :P

I also started playing your demo for Mica: Apoptosis. Really liking what I'm seeing currently!

Heh, the 'official' explanation is just that there was some time lapse between the introduction monologue and the current Mariko, during which Mariko found out about Shinku, and broke psychologically from being repeatedly harassed and stalked (which is why she is carrying a knife everywhere). Any theories are welcome, though. :P

And yeah, I'm actually really determined to release Mica: Apoptosis, though I think the plot is getting pretty convoluted! And I'll certainly consider the Dear Mariko prequel thing. :D

Not really, I just decided to do something Charon-ish for kicks and giggles. :P I do like having morally ambiguous female characters who can be pushed to extremes and do some extreme things, but seldom are they actually stereotypically yandere, because as fun as they can be, they can tend to get boring after a while.
Yeah, I see what you're saying. Yanderes can be poorly done sometimes--and usually don't have an excuse to be crazy other than the "Welp, i just like to kill because shock value hurdy hur hur."

While a character being pushed to an extreme is more emotional... and has a better impact on the player/watcher/etc.

Of course, hun! I look forward to more of your games!

And... I do have to ask. Are yandere characters a trend in your games? ;)

Quest Twilight Prince Prophecy Chronicles Review

a plot twister so shocking, it caused the earth to rumble and split apart.

I BET YOU NEVER HUES THIS PLOT TWISTER

*shakes and laughs* as the VA of Benjamin and Ebert, I am so happy that you enjoyed Yamijean's amazing masterpiece.

Astral Transparency: Cole's Gate Review

@nhubi: Excellent suggestions! :D Thanks for them. I'll see if I can implement them or an equivalent.

@shayoko: Thanks. :) I think I'll leave the fetch quest as it is, since I don't think it came out of whack, but I'll try to add more foreshadowing as to Valoria's nature.

Astral Transparency: Cole's Gate Review

Thank you for the insightful review and critique! It really helps to know where I am lacking so I can improve as a writer. You aren't half wrong with the fact that the transitioning seemed jarring - i did take a long break between the first demo (which ended when Ray met Cole) and the Valoria part after all. I can't promise I can make massive changes, but I'll certainly try my best to work on the flow!

One of my main themes in the story which I'm trying to cover are the devastating psychological effects of parents pushing their problems onto their children, whether intentional and manipulative or unintentional and passive. This can be seen most clearly through Ray and Irene in the demo, and one of my reasons for letting Valoria leave the house when her father needed her the most (though I do admit it was also partially as a filler to introduce a new character) is to hint at a less-than-perfect relationship between Valoria and her father. And well, I hope that explains why "everyone seems mentally imbalanced" because the four main characters - Ray, Valoria, "Cole" and Tom are all supposed to reinstate this theme, just in different ways. And of course, none of them are perfectly sane or trustworthy at this point. Hope that clears things up.

Again, thanks for the critique and I really enjoyed this review. :)

Six Rules Review

Thank you for the review. Credits for the brilliant OST and the art go to my awesome teammates Marc Tabula and chocobikies respectively, however. There was no way I could've done it without them. :) As for the story itself, I truly enjoyed writing it, though whether or not it really deserves 5 perfect stars, I'm not too sure. I'm really happy to see that someone found our work a masterpiece, however, and I will strive to do ever better in the future! :D
