[FORUM GAME] Rise of the Highlander

"Hmmph! I'm not obtuse! Maybe we can use YOUR thick skull to break it open? Other than that, it's likely we could find something in the bedchamber we could swing at the ice, if you wanna go look? We might even find something to sate my bloodlust."

[Poll] Do you prefer IRC, Slack or Discord?

hahaha yeah! :D

Plus Plug.dj, Minecraft Chat, and Chatzy and Quicktopic.

"We could probably hit it a bunch, attempt to break it. Or use that torch you have there to warm it up and melt it, which would make sense."

New user trying to make his first game! Any advice welcome

Exactly that deathollow! :D

Also I forgot to say, Welcome to RMN!! :D

Screenshot Survival 20XX

I actually quite like that sound.
And yeah, I think that'd be cool if you could plow it first! :D

Overall I think it looks like a cool and effective mechanic!

Don't try to make a masterpiece of your first game. Seriously. Like so so so many RMers try to make the game of their dreams on their first attempt. Don't fall into that trap. Start of with a small, simple project to help boost your understanding of the software. Maybe even your first 2-3 games, or at least until you get a feel for what you're doing. Games with small scope are the best, because you can have fun with it and you have no pressure on you. It also makes it easier to learn and means you don't have to worry about being amazing and can just work at an easier, steadier pace as you mess up completely while making a rubbish game, so that your next game will be better than it.
That is probably my number 1 advice for any new RMer ever.

Balancing battles

Ah okay... that makes sense! :D

I like the part about giving the enemies skills that can be countered or dealt with in a certain way, that sounds like a really good way to make battles engaging.
Yup, lots of testing always seems like a good idea haha ^_^;

Edit: Also yeah, we shall summon a LockeZ using... idk

[Poll] Does RPG Maker net have low engagement rate?

By comment and be more active, I think they meant in the community, not just in arguing about the feedback about your game...

I'd play it but I don't have available funds and the game really isn't my thing, so I'm sorry, but please take the advice everyone is giving on board, it all seems really constructive.

Balancing battles

I am notoriously bad at it, but I asked RMN Discord about Balancing and they had a lot to say about it and a range of opinions from " 'balance' is overrated" to "in the end it is challenge that is fun."

So what are you thoughts, notes and advice on the topic of balancing combat in RPGs, is there a good way of going about it, is it a difficult thing to do?

The Stat of the Furious

I always though secretly Uni was a cute little puppy...
And yeah, that's true, so just a lot of discussion about gam mak rather than gam mak happening... Hmmm...
